  • Silver Wood: Tawny Owl - 3+ - 3 owlets - single low down and two very high in tree tops ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - Mobbing Tawny chicks. ; Nuthatch - 1 - Calling. ; Great Tit - 5+ - Adult feeding well grown young. ; Blue Tit - 10+ - 2 nests with adults feeding young.
  • Stanage Edge: Ring Ouzel - 1 - male near Stanage Pole
  • Stanage Plantation: Cuckoo - 1 - in cleared area at 08:10; calling and being chased by a smaller bird ; 319 - 2
  • Upper Ewden: Red Kite - 3+ - birds around all day from in Hobson Moss- Stainery Clough - Margery Hill - Pike Low area, max 3 in view at once.
  • Whitwell Moor: Cuckoo - 1 - singing in eastern section of moor ; Lapwing - 3+ - adult with at least 2 well-grown chicks in sheep pasture adjoining moor
  • Wyming Brook: Wood Warbler - 3 - Singing ; Blackcap - 1 - Male singing ; Cuckoo - 1 - Calling ; Blue Tit - 1 - Frequently visiting nest box ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Singing ; Song Thrush - 1 - Singing ; Willow Warbler - 1 - Singing

  • Aldwarke; Liberty Steels: Raven - 3+ - family party in N of site ; Lapwing - 6+ - inc at least 2 large chicks on open area in N of site ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 3 - N ; Common Buzzard - 2 - soaring over @ 0835hrs
  • Barlow: 319 - 1 ; Swallow - 3+
  • Birley Edge: Cuckoo - 1 - Calling. Very infrequent round here. Second only in last 30 years.
  • Bole Hill Rec: Tawny Owl - 1+ - at least one fledgling making begging calls in woodland off Tinker lane
  • Canklow Woods: Woodcock - 1 - 1 roding at 2140
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Mute Swan - 2 - 1 pair ; Pink-footed Goose - 1 - preening on top of disturbed soil at W end ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing, W end from reeds and dense area of umbelifors
  • Dukes Road: Red Kite - 2
  • Firsby Res: Coot - 1 ; Mallard hybrid - 5+ - Pair with ducklings. ; Mute Swan - 2 ; Water Rail - 2 - Squealing in far Reed bed. ; Black-headed Gull - 1 - Over. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - Over. ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 - Male. ; Reed Warbler - 1 - Calling in sluice Reed bed. ; Whitethroat - 3 - All singing. ; Blackcap - 4+ - All singing. ; Blackcap - 4+ - All singing. ; Willow Warbler - 4+ - Adult feeding chicks. ; Chiffchaff - 2 - Singing. ; Goldfinch - 4 ; Bullfinch - 2 - Call only. ; Swift - 2 - Over newly constructed cottage. ; Swallow - 3 - Over sluice. ; House Martin - 3 - With Swallows. ; Pied Wagtail - 2 - Adult feeding young on sluice.
  • Greystones garden: Starling - 40 - inc 30 juvs in observer's garden
  • Little Matlock Wood: Garden Warbler - 1 - singing from scrubs ; Redstart - 2+ ; Bullfinch - 1 - calling ; Willow Warbler - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 3+ ; Blackcap - 5+ ; Nuthatch - 1 ; Treecreeper - 1
  • Morley Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 2+ - Adult still on nest in reeds at E end ; Mute Swan - 7 - family, Y316 and mate with 5 cygnets, feeding at E end wall ; Gadwall - 1 - male ; Mallard - 1+ ; Tufted Duck - 6+ ; Coot - 4+ - at least 2 family parties, one with 4 juvs, several weeks old. ; Moorhen - 1 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - circling over W end of lake
  • Old Ravenfield: Chaffinch - 2 - Male with recently fledged Juv near sewage farm. ; Goldcrest - 1 - In woodland. ; Long-tailed Tit - 5+ - Recently fledged juvs on Spring Lane. ; Yellowhammer - 1 - Singing Male along Arbour Lane. ; Woodpigeon - 1 - On recently laid egg in hedge.
  • Old Ravenfield.: Greenfinch - 2 - Female on eggs in hedge. Male singing at top of Garden Lane. ; Linnet - 2 ; Goldfinch - 2 - Pair with nest on Arbour Lane. ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Lapwing - 1 - Over farmland between village and Arbour Lane. ; House Martin - 6+ - Over farm on Garden Lane. ; Swallow - 2 - With HM. ; Treecreeper - 1 - In church woodland.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Redshank - 6 - 4 adults and 2 chick's. 1 chick had a deformed leg and was much smaller than the other. ; Common Sandpiper - 1
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Swallow - 1 - feeding over briefly ; House Martin - 1 - feeding over ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 2 - N
  • Pingle Lane Tip: Yellowhammer - 2+ - Males singing from the tops of Hawthorn bushes. ; Whitethroat - 3 ; Lapwing - 1
  • Ravenfield Park: Moorhen - 1 ; Coot - 1 ; Mallard - 8+ ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - Along stream.
  • Rawmarsh; Barber*s Avenue: Blackcap - 1 - singing adjacent playing field ; Woodpigeon - 10 - feeding on bowling greens ; Linnet - 4 - feeding on dandelion heads on playing field ; Goldfinch - 6 - on playing field with Linnets
