Damflask Res: Great Crested Grebe - 3 - no sign of a nest in neck end recently, water levels maybe too low.

Dukes Road: Wren - 2+ - young heard calling from 2 active nests. ; Red Grouse - 16 - adults with broods of 10 ( all could fly ) + 4 well grown chicks.

Ewden Beck ( Oaken clough area ): Wren - 1+ - adult feeding young at nest. ; Ring Ouzel - 1 - heard calling. ; 319 - 2

Linacre Res: Great Crested Grebe - 7 - 3 prs with young plus a lone adult ; Tufted Duck - 31 ; Mallard - 4+ - 4 f with broods of 6, 8, 6, & 7 ; Mandarin - 4+ - 4 f with young broods ; Stock Dove - 2 - singing ; Coot - 8+ - 4 young broods ; Moorhen - 3+ - 3 young broods ; Blackcap - 2+ - pr with 3 newly fledged young ; Robin - 2 - 2 recently fledged juvs ; Wren - 1+ - carrying food

Thrybergh CP: Oystercatcher - 2 ; Common Tern - 2 - perched on buoys where rafts used to be moored, and plunge fishing near dam wall leaving N ; 319 - 3 ; Reed Warbler - 4 - Singing

Upper Ewden: WHITE-TAILED EAGLE - 1 - sat on moor above shooting lodge, then made short flight ; Red Kite - 2

Silverwood Lagoon: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 4 - Black-necked Grebes (two pairs) are breeding at Silverwood Lagoon (S of Thrybergh) this year and currently have chicks, the first SBSG area breeding record since 1988. Access from Hollins Lane, SK478941, please park sensibly and keep to the paths to avoid disturbance.
