  • Redmires conduit: Snipe - 2 ; Lapwing - 12 ; Curlew - 3 - 2 adults and one well grown chick
  • Redmires Top Res: Redstart - 1 - singing male ; Goldcrest - 2 - singing ; Kestrel - 1
  • Shepherd Wheel: Moorhen - 1+ - 1 adult + 5 half-grown young (the other adult seems to have been reinforcing the nest at the eastern edge of the dam)
  • Stannington, west: Tree Sparrow - 2 - Flew over Flash Lane
  • Thrybergh CP: Little Owl - 1 - Calling early a.m. at southern boundary ; Swift - 100+ ; Sand Martin - 10+ ; Swallow - 1 ; Kestrel - 2 ; 319 - 4
  • Totley Moss: Red Kite - 1 - seen from Big Moor, being mobbed by a Curlew ; Curlew - 1
  • White Edge Moor: Whinchat - 1 ; Curlew - 2 ; Tree Pipit - 1 ; Swift - 9 ; Swallow - 2 ; Skylark - 5 ; Lapwing - 1 ; Cuckoo - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 6+

  • Barrow Hill: Tawny Owl - 1 - Breck Lane
  • Bingham Park: Nuthatch - 3 - Parents feeding juvenile in nest hole ; Jay - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 - Male feeding juvenile in nest hole ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - Juvenile ; Herring Gull - 1 ; Swift - 1
  • Crowhole: Swallow - 8+ ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Rook - 2 ; House Martin - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Goldfinch - 2
  • Dukes Road: Red Kite - 2
  • Elsecar Heritage Centre: Grey Wagtail - 1 - singing from adjacent stream
  • Hillsborough Park: Mute Swan - 4 - 2 imms still, and pair with 5 small cygnets ; Coot - 6+ - 3 pairs with 1, 2 and 3 chicks. ; Moorhen - 3 - plus 1 chick ; Canada Goose - c100 - plus 22 goslings
  • Markham Vale: Sedge Warbler - 1 - night singing male
  • Orgreave Lakes: Ringed Plover - 1 - SE corner of main lake at 0700 ; Dunlin - 1 - Round small lake at 0705. Still present on the island at 0845.
  • R Sheaf, Broadfield Rd: Mandarin - 19 - Including a female with 8 ducklings.
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Kestrel - 1 - E/NE @b 1235hrs
  • Redmires Middle Res: Gadwall - 1 - female
  • Redmires Top Res: Common Sandpiper - 5 - Two adults and three very young chicks.
  • Shepherd Wheel: Kingfisher - 1
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Little Grebe - 6+ - three pairs feeding young ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - long-staying pair possibly nesting ; BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 5 - pair and 2 nearly independent young + third adult ; Coot - 20+ - young seemingly being fed everywhere around lagoon and fresh broods appearing almost daily ; Moorhen - 4+ - two pairs with young ; Reed Warbler - 6+ - 3 still singing, others calling in roadbeds ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 - singing less frequently now ; Swallow - 5 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Yellowhammer - 1 - singing in Hollings Lane meadows ; Reed Bunting - 2 - singing ; House Martin - 10 - over Woodlaithes end of pit top ; Long-tailed Tit - 10+ - two family parties
  • Thrybergh: Yellowhammer - 1 - male ; House Sparrow - 10
  • Thrybergh CP: Shoveler - 2 - a pair ; Lapwing - 2 ; Moorhen - 6+6 - 2 pairs with young ; Little Egret - 2 - flew east ; Swift - 60+ ; Sand Martin - 3 ; Chiffchaff - 3 ; Willow Warbler - 2 ; Whitethroat - 6 ; Blackcap - 3 ; Reed Warbler - 2 ; Great Tit - 10+ - Lots of young birds ; 319 - 4 ; Kestrel - 2 ; Tawny Owl - 2 - Two young out of nest site ; Common Sandpiper - 1
  • Wadsley Common garden: Swift - c20 - Over garden at 21:05 - never seen so many here. ; Swallow - 2 - Sitting on nest in outbuilding.
