  • Carr Vale Nature Reserve: BONAPARTE'S GULL - One - 2 cy bonapartes gull 10:00 only seen on meadow flash and did not enter SBSG area, sorry. It left high south at 1025.
  • Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 1+ - ad + single chick at northern end of flash ; Mallard - 1+ - fem + brood (6) ; Pochard - 1 - male ; Gadwall - 2 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - pair with nest ; Coot - 16+ ; Swift - 12+ ; Sand Martin - 16+ ; House Martin - 8+ ; Black-headed Gull - 2+ ; Blackcap - 1 - singing
  • Ecclesall: Swift - 12
  • R Don, Effingham St: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - 2cy on Thos Wards roof, also present yesterday. ; Herring Gull - c50 - still around Eff St/ Warren St. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 12
  • Redmires: Common Tern - 2 - flew west with BHG's this morning
  • Redmires conduit: Lapwing - 14 - 14 chicks counted in horse fields ; Cuckoo - 1 - calling and perched near horse fields ; Lapwing - 2 - pair with 3 young along the conduit
  • Redmires Res: Canada Goose - 31 - mostly in fields ; Greylag Goose - 16 - inc pair with 4 young on Top Res ; Mallard - 8 ; Ringed Plover - 1 - ad feeding on Top Res ; Lapwing - 4 - 2 pairs with a total of 3 young on Top & Middle Reservoirs - encouraged by low water levels due to maintenance ; Oystercatcher - 2 - alarming by Bottom Res - young hidden in bracken (presumed single chick from two weeks ago) ; Common Sandpiper - 2 - on Top Res - flushed by dog walkers ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 36 - on Top Res ; Herring Gull - 4 - with LBB;s - left to the north-west mid-morning ; Black-headed Gull - 9 - inc 5 which flew W ; Common Tern - 2 - ads flew W with BHG's at 08:03 hrs ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling by Middle Res ; Garden Warbler - 2 - singing males by Top Res ; Whitethroat - 2 - singing ; Cuckoo - 1 - calling and seen briefly along conduit ; Swallow - 6 ; House Martin - 2 ; Linnet - 8 - 4 pairs holding territory ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - singing around Top Res ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - pairs breeding - Top & Bottom Res
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Mute Swan - 2+ - resident pair have recently lost 3 of their 7 cygnets ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing ; Oystercatcher - 1 - west ; Jackdaw - 2 - north ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - adult north ; Reed Warbler - 5+ - 5 singing, others calling in phragmites ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - singing ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Jay - 3 ; Grey Partridge - 1 ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Song Thrush - 3 - singing ; House Martin - c.15 ; Swift - 3 ; Long-tailed Tit - 15+ - two family parties

  • Barlow Common: Yellowhammer - 1 ; Swift - 04-May
  • Bradwell Ponds: Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Heard
  • Brincliffe Edge: Blackcap - 1 - male singing in garden for last few days (normally visit only in winter)
  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 1 - Feeding on slabs at side of lower lake at 7:20
  • Hope: Chiffchaff - 1 - Heard
  • Norton Lees: Swift - 1
  • Orgreave: Wood Sandpiper - 1 - On small lake edges island early morning ; Garganey - 1 - Drake on island
