  • Thrybergh Park: Common Buzzard - 1 - over @ 1100hrs
  • Ulley: Yellow Wagtail - 2 - Top of Guithwaite common Lane on farmers soil heap 12.00 ; Skylark - 05-Jun - 3 singing, pair seen. ; Whitethroat - 1 - Parachuting and singing. ; Swift - 4
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Pied Flycatcher - 12+ - 11 confirmed territories so far. ; Nuthatch - 20+ - 9 territories, juvs in nest boxes ; Blue Tit - 120+ - 48 occupied nest boxes, some with juvs, some still incubating ; Great Tit - 90+ - 28 occupied nest boxes, 3 other territories

  • Aldwarke: Common Buzzard - 1 - over, mobbed by crows @ 1435hrs
  • Bar Brook Valley: Whinchat - 6 - Three pairs between Barbrook Pools and Plantation ; Cuckoo - 2 - Males calling about 1.5 km apart.
  • Barbrook Plantation: Tree Pipit - 2+ - singing ; Redstart - 4+ - Two males singing. One female and one male carrying food to nest site. ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 ; Pied Flycatcher - 2 - Two males singing
  • Barbrook Pools: 320 - 1 - Male flushed by dogs off lead. ; Lapwing - 2 - Alarming ; Snipe - 1 - Flushed by dogs off lead
  • Barbrook Valley: Stonechat - 3 ; Cuckoo - 1 ; Tree Pipit - 2 ; Lesser Redpoll - 3+
  • Barlow Common: Skylark - 5+ ; Swift - 1 ; Swallow - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Garden Warbler - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 1 ; Linnet - 4 ; Goldfinch - 2
  • Bradford Dale: Grey Wagtail - 2
  • Brecks, Rotherham: Common Buzzard - 1 - over @ 1425hrs
  • Burbage Valley: Dipper - 1 ; Whinchat - 2 - Singing male and a female ; Stonechat - 1
  • Clod Hall Crossroads: Canada Goose - 13 - Two pairs with broods of four and five alongside the Bar Brook
  • Dukes Road: Peregrine - 1 - imm unsuccessfully chasing Pigeon Emlin Ridge.
  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 4 - 2 adults large Res. 2 chicks small Res. ; Coot - 1 ; Mallard - 1 - Male. ; Gadwall - 2 - Pair still present. ; Black-headed Gull - 4 - Over. ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - On road. ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female mobbed by Swallows. ; Swift - 2 ; Swallow - 8+ - Over water and mobbing SH. ; Reed Warbler - 2 - Singing. ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - Singing. ; Blackcap - 3 ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 2 ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Chaffinch - 1 - Singing Male. ; Song Thrush - 1 - Singing. ; Long-tailed Tit - 20+
  • Fulwood garden: Hobby - 1 - over and around for 10 mins at 11:40 - first for site ; Robin - 2+ - pair and 1-2 fledged young ; Greenfinch - 2+ - pair and fledged juv at feeders ; Woodpigeon - 2+ - pair and fledged juv ; Magpie - 2+ - pair and 3 fledged juvs ; Collared Dove - 2 - pair at nest ; 319 - 3 - including a pale bird with wing pattern consistent with shotgun damage ; Starling - 25 - various family parties in the area - looks to have been a successful breeding season
  • Great Longstone: Fieldfare - 1 - lone bird feeding
  • Greave*s Piece: Whitethroat - 5 - Total of five singing males
  • Longshaw: Wood Warbler - 2 - 1 in Padley Gorge and another in fenced area at the north end opposite path to Burbage Valley. ; Mandarin - 2+ - Pair on the pond with 7 young
  • Middleton Moor: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - briefly ; Sedge Warbler - 3 ; Shelduck - 2 ; Oystercatcher - 1 ; Swallow - 4
  • Millhouses Park: Moorhen - 2 - Pair. One incubating at usual nest site.
  • Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 2
  • Orgreave Lakes: Sanderling - 1 - still present ; 322 - 1 - Black Swan ; Sanderling - 1
  • Padley Gorge: Wood Warbler - 1 - Observed 7:30-8:00 in region near top of ramp ; Redstart - 1 - Male moorland fringe 8:05 ; Cuckoo - 1 - Heard calling moorland fringe 7:15-8:00 ; Tree Pipit - 1 - Moorland fringe ; Wood Warbler - 1 - ~ 100 m into wood from main gate at 8:15
  • R Don, Kelham Island to Meadowhall: Wren - 35 - singing ; Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Carrion Crow - 20+ - incl post-breeding flock of c15 nr Norfolk Bridge (at least 8 young), and one turning stones in the river nr Stevenson Rd bridge ; Pied Wagtail - 5 - incl one with food nr Hawke St
  • R Don, Lady*s Bridge: Pied Wagtail - 5 - incl 1 juv
  • Redmires Top Res: Redstart - 1 - male in woods along top edge of reservoir
  • Stocksbridge: House Martin - c5 - Around Red Grouse pub
