  • Firsby Res: Coot - 5 - 4 adults 1 well grown chick. ; Moorhen - 1 ; Mallard - 7 - Pair + Female with 4 half grown ducklings. ; Common Tern - 1 - Brief flight over water. ; Kestrel - 4 - Pair with chicks. ; House Martin - 20+ ; Swift - 10+ - Low over houses with HMs. ; Swallow - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 2+ - Calling from waters edge. ; Yellowhammer - 5+ ; Willow Warbler - 2 ; Whitethroat - 4+ ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - Heard reeling not seen. ; Reed Warbler - 1 - Singing. ; Blackcap - 1 ; Bullfinch - 1 - Nest with eggs. ; Goldfinch - 5+ ; Chaffinch - 1 - Singing Male. ; Skylark - 3 - Singing.
  • Intake: Red Kite - 1 - Flew over observer's house then drifted SE at 11:30.
  • Keppels Field: Kestrel - 1 - male hunting
  • Kimberworth Park: Starling - c20 - adults and juvs feeding, on verge
  • Litton: Curlew - 1
  • Millhouses: Swift - 12+ - Feeding low over Millhouses Park and Hutcliffe Wood in the rain. Not local birds presumably. Max daily count of just two so far this month over the houses.

  • Pebley Pond: Little Egret - 1 - reports of 2 in week ; Pink-footed Goose - 1 - The one that has been around most of the spring and summer ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 ; Lapwing - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 3 - 2 adults + 1 young. ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Grey Heron - 1

  • Ramsley Res: Tawny Owl - 1 - calling from woods behind reservoir
  • Rawmarsh Cemetery: Common Buzzard - 1 - soaring over, harassed by 3 Jackdaws, 1055-1105hrs
  • Silverwood Lagoon: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 2 - 1adult feeding juvenile ; House Martin - 5 ; Swift - 12 ; Mute Swan - 11 - 2 adults with 9 well grown cygnets ; Whitethroat - 5
  • Spout House Hill: Curlew - 3 - male, female and at least 1 of this year's young feeding on recently mown hay field ; Lapwing - c8 - feeding in recently mown hay field
