Redmires Res: Curlew - 9 - in fields

Silverwood Lagoon: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 4+ - been keeping to reedbeds a lot out of wind for past few days, but one pair with all 3 (and rapidly-growing) young more out in open this morning. Second pair still have at least 1 young - Access from Hollins Lane, SK478941, please park sensibly and keep to the paths to avoid disturbance

Barbrook Plantation: Willow Warbler - 2+ - 2 adults feeding 3 newly fledged young ; Whitethroat - 1 - singing

Blackburn Meadows: Little Egret - 2 - Feeding in the river at the bottom of the weir just before Jordan's Lock.

Bole Hill, Treeton: Yellowhammer - 2

Endcliffe Park: Coot - 5 - Two adults still feeding three (highly vociferous) well-grown juveniles ~ lower pond

Endcliffe Student Village: Moorhen - 6+ - One adult along with small chick being fed by various fully grown siblings from two earlier broods

Orgreave Lakes: Ringed Plover - 3 - Circled main lake before landing on east side. ; Ringed Plover - 3 - second picture ; Oystercatcher - 5

Rivelin Valley: Grey Wagtail - 1+ - adult male feeding recently-fledged juvenile near Roscoe Weir ; Grey Wagtail - 1+ - adult male feeding recently-fledged juvenile above Holme Head Weir ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - adult female feeding recently-fledged juvenile upstream of Glen Bridge ("S" bend) ; Mandarin - 1+ - adult female with 2 ducklings on river ; Stock Dove - 3 - foraging in silage stubble in field off Tofts Lane

Aldwarke/Dalton: Peregrine - 1 - made unsuccessful pass at Woodpigeon over 'mushroom' roundabout @ 0635hrs

Cattis-side Moor: Whinchat - 2 - Pair alarming in bracken bed - presumed nest site ; Reed Bunting - 3 - males holding territory ; Curlew - 2 - pair alarming - young presumably near by ; Meadow Pipit - 22 - counted during moorland survey - at least 3 ads seen carrying food ; Kestrel - 1 - male flow low to the west carrying food ; Red Grouse - 1 ; Skylark - 2 - territories ; Whitethroat - 1 - singing

Fitzwilliam Canal, Parkgate: Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Moorhen - 1+ - probably with chicks

High Storrs: Tawny Owl - 2 - ad with recently fledged young in trees at the front car par of High Storrs school - early evening

Kimberworth Park: Kestrel - 1 - male hunting between Kimberworth Park pub and Grey Hill

Loxley Valley: Mandarin - 9 - 1 adult female with 8 ducklings

Middle Common: Lapwing - 9 - adults, in field recently cut for second time in just over a month ; Skylark - 1+ - singing ; Swift - 6+ - low over field into strong westerly ; Kestrel - 1 - over W toward Cinder Hills, causing Lapwings to briefly take flight

Middlewood: Greenfinch - 2 - Pair in garden. First for almost 10 years ; Swift - 10+ - 5 active nests on house.

Millhouses garden: Starling - 8 - 2 Adults and 6 Juveniles ; House Sparrow - 9 - 4 adults and 5 juveniles ; Robin - 2 - 1 adult and one juvenile ; Greenfinch - 2 ; Bullfinch - 2 ; Goldfinch - 2

Morley Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 4 - including 1 family with 1 juv ; Mute Swan - 6 - family (316 and 035), again near overflow E end, 1 cygnet still riding on females back ; Tufted Duck - 8
