  • R Don, Eastwood: Cormorant - 7 - circled over & appeared to drop towards river @ 0750hrs
  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; Main Street: Mute Swan - 2 - SW @ 1102hrs ; Goosander - 3 - 2 drakes circled & left W/SW @ 1332hrs; single (unsexed) NE @ 1605hrs
  • Rotherham Centre: Sparrowhawk - 1 - circling over @ 0952hrs
  • Roughwood Rec: Black-headed Gull - c70 ; Herring Gull - 2 ; Rook - 7
  • Silverwood Pit Wood.: Nuthatch - 6+ - Including 3 together calling and feeding, a good number throughout the Wood calling and feeding. ; Treecreeper - 03-Apr ; Great Tit - c10 - Mostly feeding together in leaf litter. ; Chaffinch - 14 ; Tawny Owl - 2 - Pair together. ; Coal Tit - 2 ; Long-tailed Tit - 11 ; Blue Tit - 6
  • Sothall: Goldfinch - 50+ - dropping in to roost in a laurel bush ; Lesser Redpoll - 2+ - roosting with Goldfinch in a large laurel bush
  • Stannington garden: Redwing - 1 - Briefly staying single was first in garden for many years.

  • Aldwarke SF: Kestrel - 1 - male, hunting ; Reed Bunting - 01-Feb ; Sparrowhawk - 01-Feb - one soaring high over; another(?) SW later ; Tufted Duck - 1pr ; Coot - 5+ ; Mistle Thrush - 1pr ; Great Tit - 3 - inc one singing ; Gadwall - 4 - 3m; 1f ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Pheasant - 1 - cock ; Herring Gull - 3 - SW
  • Blackburn Meadows NR: 319 - 2 ; Raven - 1 - Mobbing a Peregrine. Seemed to land on Tinsley S.F.
  • Bramley: Song Thrush - 1 - Singing daily early morning. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Only 2 sighting by observer since 2008.
  • Canklow Woods: 319 - 1 - Circling over near Holiday Inn 15.35
  • Carbrook: Kestrel - 1 - male, flew low over busy crossroads and landed on roof of Sheffield Forgemasters building where it stayed for a minute or so. ; Mistle Thrush - 5+ - One singing from Alder tree outside South Yorkshire Police building. Four feeding on grassy Meadowhall overflow car park ; Magpie - 2 ; Jackdaw - 2 ; Long-tailed Tit - c6 - flock flitting amongst branches of pleached hedge along busy road outside South Yorks Police building
  • Fatty Boyns Ponds: Song Thrush - 2 - singing ; Bullfinch - 01-Feb ; Great Tit - 2 - singing ; Moorhen - 1 ; Red-legged Partridge - 5 - in adjacent field
  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 2 ; Mallard - 2 - A pair. ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Red Kite - 1 - Brief views over heading towards Conisbrough. ; Magpie - 4 ; Jackdaw - 7 - Over together heading towards M18. ; Jay - 2 - Very vocal ; Starling - 4 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Redwing - 12 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Bullfinch - 4
  • Forge Dam: Ring-necked Parakeet - 3 - Flew over, calling
  • Grange Park Golf Course: 319 - 1 - Active close to Watson's Tip. ; Woodpigeon - 1+ ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1+ - Rattle calls from wood adj to 9th fairway ; Skylark - 1+ - W of Watson's Tip ; Wren - 1+ - at least 1 singing ; Robin - 9 - singing ; Blackbird - 5+ ; Song Thrush - 3 - singing ; Redwing - 1+ - calls ; Long-tailed Tit - 1+ ; Coal Tit - 1 - singing ; Blue Tit - 1+ - at least 1 singing ; Great Tit - 1+ - singing ; Nuthatch - 1 - calls ; Magpie - 5+ ; Carrion Crow - 1+ ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Greenfinch - 1 - singing ; Goldfinch - 10+

  • Langsett Res: Common Gull - 150 - c150 roosted ; Black-headed Gull - 4500 - c4500 roosted ; Herring Gull - 6 - visiting
  • Low Moor, Upper Midhope: Curlew - 40 ; Lapwing - 10
  • Meadowhall Retail Park: Cormorant - 1 - perched on footbridge over R. Don between retail park and bus interchange
  • Norton Lees: Tawny Owl - 1 - Heard
  • Peat Pits: Golden Plover - 300-400
  • R Don, Aldwarke: Cormorant - 2 ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing ; Goosander - 7 - 6m; 1f ; Mallard - 2prs
  • R Don, Brightside: Kingfisher - 1 ; Peregrine - 1 - adult; flying overhead; appeared to be looking for potential prey in this very urban area
  • R Don, Salmon Pastures: Goosander - 2 - pair
  • R Don, Thrybergh Banks: Goosander - 1pr ; Cormorant - 1 ; Tufted Duck - c120 ; 320 - 11 ; Gadwall - 1 - drake ; Mallard - 8 ; Mute Swan - 1pr - inc 324Y (red) ; Moorhen - 1
