  • Hurlfield: Canada Goose - 1 - Single bird flew SE over ; Tawny Owl - 2 - pair calling at 18:50.
  • Kelham Island: Kingfisher - 2 - Two chasing each other up and down the goit at Kelham Island
  • Killamarsh: Greenfinch - 5 - 2 male and 3 female on feeder in observer's garden ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Male in observer's garden ; Chaffinch - 1 - Male ; House Sparrow - 10+ - Flock present in garden as usual
  • Linacre Res: Goosander - 4 - 2m, 2 redheads. ; Tufted Duck - c19 ; Mandarin - c7 ; Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Cormorant - 2
  • Manor Fields Park: Reed Bunting - 1 - male singing from reedbed 08:15 ; Kingfisher - 1 ; Carrion Crow - 8 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Magpie - c20 - 1pair nest building ; Dunnock - 6 - min 6 singing ; Linnet - 7 ; Mallard - 6 - 3 pair pond area. 08:00-09:30
  • Middle Moss/Trout Sike Ridge: Peregrine - 1 - hunting over moors ; Wren - 1 ; Mallard - 5 - On conduit and Churl Clough ; Meadow Pipit - 6+ ; Marsh Harrier - 1 - Juv/female flew from Ughill Moor direction (NW) towards Redmires Res. (SW) followed by crow. ; Raven - 1 ; Red Grouse - 1 ; Pheasant - 1 - male ; Skylark - 5 ; Lapwing - 2 ; Reed Bunting - 1 - female ; 324 - 1 - Mountain Hare, still mostly white. ; Curlew - 3 ; Meadow Pipit - 2+

  • Orgreave Lakes: BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 - Big Lake at 09:15 ; BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 - Adult in almost summer-plumage ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - Male on west shore of Big Lake at 08:30 ; Redshank - 4 - 2 pairs ; Goldeneye - 6 ; Skylark - c.40 - Approximate count within 100yds of both lakes ; Stonechat - 1 - Male on west bank below haul road ; Kingfisher - 1 - Surprisingly my first this year! ; BLACK-NECKED GREBE - 1 - still present at N end at 11.00 ; Sand Martin - 1 - over N end big lake 11:04
  • Pit-house West: BITTERN - 1 - still present at dusk ; Water Rail - 1 - calling at dusk ; 319 - 1 ; Redwing - 10 ; Yellowhammer - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 2 ; 320 - 2 - pair ; Coot - 2 ; Woodcock - 1 - flushed ; Kingfisher - 2 - noisy chasing, flying laps around the Bittern Pool, presumed courtship ; 324 - 1 - Roe Deer
  • Ravenfield Church: Tawny Owl - 4 - Calling and flying round trees near Ravenfield Church, 3 males and 1 female all very vocal at dusk.
  • Ravenfield Park: Coot - 2 ; Moorhen - 1 ; Mallard - 4 ; Mute Swan - 2 - Local pair in flight. ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female circling over woodland. ; Tawny Owl - 2 - Separate birds. ; Black-headed Gull - 5 - On farmland. ; Red-legged Partridge - 1 - Dead on path. ; Skylark - 2 - Pair chasing on farmland. ; Meadow Pipit - 1 - Over. ; Chaffinch - 1 - Singing Male. ; Chiffchaff - 2 - Singing.
  • Redmires conduit: Peregrine - 1 - Hunting. Probably the same as hunting over Middle Moss earlier ; Curlew - 1 ; Starling - 25+ - Feeding in wet pastures. ; Lapwing - c20 - In wet pastures.
  • Redmires Plantation: Stonechat - 2 - Beside track to Stanage Pole
  • Redmires Res: Greylag Goose - 12 - in fields ; Greylag Goose - 12 - in fields ; Canada Goose - 6 ; Tufted Duck - 5 - on Top Res ; Mallard - 8 ; 320 - 6 ; Moorhen - 2 - separate singles on Top & Bottom Reservoirs - unprecedented and presumably due to the mild winter ; Lapwing - 30 - c. ; Oystercatcher - 2 - obvious pair ; Curlew - 8 - in fields ; Snipe - 2 - chipping along conduit ; Stonechat - 1 - male along conduit ; Meadow Pipit - 10 - flew N ; Fieldfare - 8 - flew W
