  • Jordanthorpe: Barn Owl - 1 - Perched on goal post in field by Jordanthorpe Parkway
  • Mayfield Valley: Little Owl - 1 - near Old may House
  • Orgreave Lakes: Common Sandpiper - 4 ; Little Egret - 3
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Song Thrush - 1 ; Linnet - 9 - 6 N/NW; 3 N ; Blackcap - 2 - 1 singing ; Siskin - 2 - over calling ; Blackbird - 9+ - inc party of 9 mostly/all juvs ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - hunting ; Cormorant - 2 - over from SE to N/NW ; Raven - 3 - singles low to NW @ 0810hrs; W/SW @ 0813hrs & SW pursued by crow @ 0815hrs. One returned to Liberty site & settled on floodlight @ 0847hrs

  • Redmires Bottom Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 1 - Very active. Viewed from path leading from Soughley Lane end of reservoir to waterworks houses
  • Redmires Middle Res: Lesser Redpoll - 1
  • Roughwood Rec: Kestrel - 1 - Hunting over recently cut field and area of long grass and poppies adj Wingfield Road.
  • Roundwood Golf course: Chaffinch - 01-Feb - singing ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling ; Sand Martin - 8 - feeding over ; Chiffchaff - 3+ - inc 1 singing ; Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 2 - singing ; Common Buzzard - 1 - low over, left towards Aldwarke
  • Sothall: Water Rail - 1 - nocmig sound recorded over garden 0143hr ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - nocmig sound recorded over garden 2243hr
  • Stocksbridge: Crossbill - 5 - Flew over fox valley heading east
  • Tapton School: Swift - 200+ - at 16:30
  • Walkley Bank: Feral Pigeon - 1 - Adult tail sticking out of ventilation slit on stone house, Bentley Road, with sound of nestlings from within.

  • Eldon Hill: Black-tailed Godwit - 1 - circling fields to E and looking to land, but spooked by farmer in ATV. Possibly same bird seen later over Smalldale and down on Middleton Moor. ; Wheatear - 3+ - 2 males, female and at least one juv, probably 2. photo male ; Wheatear - 3+ - juv ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - pair in Sycamore plantation
  • Ladybower Res, South arm: Common Scoter - 1 - drake
  • Middleton Moor: Black-tailed Godwit - 1 - largely asleep, with Curlews ; Curlew - 11
