  • Harthill Res: Water Rail - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Golden Plover - 31 - 20 over SSW. 12.10 plus 11 down adjacent field same time ; Pochard - 2 ; Shoveler - 4 - 2pair ; Wigeon - 1 - m ; Gadwall - 8 - 5m ; Tufted Duck - 42 ; Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Fieldfare - 130 - adjacent field ; Redwing - 2 ; Lapwing - 2 ; 319 - 2 ; Long-tailed Tit - 5 - 2,3 ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Mute Swan - 4 - 2ads+2juv,

  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Song Thrush - 2 - singing within 10m of eachother ; Whooper Swan - 1 - 2cy still present with MS herd ; Mute Swan - c100 - inc at least 15 2cy & 4 in from SW + 4 in from NE
  • Rotherham Centre; Don Canal: Mute Swan - 2 - adults ; Goosander - 1pr ; Long-tailed Tit - 6 ; Bullfinch - 1 - female
  • Wharncliffe Side: Waxwing - 15 - flew over observers garden calling at 08:05

  • Baslow: Waxwing - 20+ - Landed briefly in tall ash tree, calling, before moving off north-west
  • Bingham Park: Goosander - 3 - 2 male, 1 female on Ibbotson Dam by Westwood Road. ; Kingfisher - 1 - caught 6+ fish at Shepherd Wheel pond
  • Bramley: Waxwing - 6 - in birches at edge of small playing field behind Belvedere Parade/Laceby Close at 08.30 then flew towards Woodlaithes estate
  • Brincliffe Edge: Goldfinch - 25 ; Siskin - 4
  • Calow: Waxwing - 30 - at Calow Church per DOS
  • Chesterfield: Waxwing - 100 - Back on St Helens Street today
  • Crosspool: Waxwing - 80+ - In 2 large trees on Manchester Road ; Waxwing - 114 - near 602 Manchester Rd
  • Greystones garden: Bullfinch - 2 - Male & female ; Goldcrest - 2 - together
  • Rawmarsh: Waxwing - 3 - feeding on pink sorbus, briefly, Haugh Rd Cemetery/Monkwood Rd at 13:00 before being chased of by Mistle Thrush
  • Redmires Top Res: Black-headed Gull - 162 - roosted ; Mallard - 12 ; Wren - 1 - in bushes by res ; Robin - 1 - singing by top res late afternoon ; Waxwing - 25 - W to roost at 16:05 ; Goldcrest - 4 - at least, calling from plantation

  • Agden Res: Cormorant - 1 - Almost certainly same colour-ringed bird as sighted on Damflask on 16.1.17
  • Blackburn Meadows NR: Gadwall - 41 ; Pink-footed Goose - 36 - West at 9.50
  • Broomhead Hall: Brambling - c.50 ; Fieldfare - c.30 ; Redwing - c.100 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Hanging around mixed flock of Redwing, Fieldfare & Brambling, hence those being difficult to count!
  • Canklow: Pink-footed Goose - 70 - c 70 NW at 09:10
  • Catcliffe Flash: Shoveler - 1 - single male ; Gadwall - 32 ; 320 - 35 ; Pochard - 6 ; Mute Swan - 7 - adult pair and 5 first-winters
  • Chesterfield: Waxwing - 100 - c100 on St Helens Street this morning
  • Crosspool: Waxwing - 70 - Perched high in single tree on Manchester Road.usual site at 1520
