  • Norton Lees: Fieldfare - 50+ - 50+ on trees bordering allotments. ; Fieldfare - 1 - In observer’s garden
  • Oldhay Brook, Totley: Water Rail - 1 - Feeding in stream at same point as one seen during frosty weather in Jan. 1991.

  • R Loxley, Hillsborough: Grey Heron - 1 - on section immediately downstream of Langsett Road
  • Rivelin Valley: Fieldfare - 7 - A flush of thrushes with 7 Blackbirds, 2 Song Thrushes, 2 Mistle Thrushes and a Redwing in observers garden . Fieldfare chasing all but the Mistles ; Goldcrest - 2 ; Long-tailed Tit - 4 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 - All in observers garden with 7 Blue Tit , Great Tit, Coal Tit , Dunnock , Robin and 2 Pheasant
  • RVCP, Main Lake: Egyptian Goose - 3 - one with BTO metal ring, N end of Main Lake ; Pochard - 37 ; Wigeon - 108 ; Oystercatcher - 2 - on snow covered lawns. ; Whooper Swan - 7 - presumed family party of 6 (2 ad, 4 juvs) , and separate adult that eventually joined up with the 6. ; Snipe - 2 - flew over
  • Shepherd Wheel: Kingfisher - 1 - Male, caught 2 fish
  • Stannington: Long-tailed Tit - 5 - feeding on suet balls ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Blackbird - 4 - 3M, 1F
  • Stannington garden: Blue Tit - 2 ; Great Tit - 1 ; Starling - 1 ; House Sparrow - 1 male
  • Stocksbridge: Fieldfare - 40+ - feeding in gardens at Paterson Close at c16:30
  • Tinsley Golf Course: Great Tit - 3 - Singing ; Blue Tit - 2 ; Nuthatch - 1 ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Female
  • Treeton SF: Pied Wagtail - 89 - Feeding on filter beds. ; Robin - 2 - Feeding on filter beds ; Meadow Pipit - 37 - Feeding on filter beds ; Carrion Crow - 96 ; Woodpigeon - 166 ; Black-headed Gull - 15
  • Tyzack*s Dam: Mandarin - 24 ; Tufted Duck - 9 ; Black-headed Gull - 88 ; Coot - 4

  • Waterthorpe: Fieldfare - 30+ - Flock flying around area all afternoon, settling in garden trees.

Friday 2nd March 2018

  • Baslow SF: Meadow Pipit - 15 - Feeding on semi- frozen filters ; Pied Wagtail - 32 ; Mandarin - 55 - On river ; Dipper - 1
  • Bingham Park: Kingfisher - 1 - Lower pond ; Goldcrest - 1 ; 320 - 4 - 2 male, 2 female lower pond ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Chapeltown: Dunlin - 1 - in carpark of Thorncliffe Park Estate, likely a near starving bird searching for food
  • Elsecar Res: Goldeneye - 1 ; Goosander - 1 - Male ; Great Crested Grebe - 9 ; 320 - 1 ; Redwing - 7 - Feeding at the side of road ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - Feeding under a very busy feeding station.
  • Endcliffe Park: Black-headed Gull - 5 - lower pond ; Kingfisher - 1 - Riverbank in between the 2 ponds ; Meadow Pipit - 1 - in between 2 ponds ; Redwing - 2 - with Meadow Pipit
  • Forge Dam: Kingfisher - 1 ; Mandarin - 2 - Male & female
  • Garden in Nether Green: Fieldfare - 5 - Flying over in North East direction
  • Greystones: Grey Wagtail - 1 - Garden, just below St Gabriel's Church
  • Greystones garden: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female ; Fieldfare - 30+ ; Blackcap - 1 - Female ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Bullfinch - 1 - Male ; Redwing - 1 ; Grey Heron - 1 - Flew over
  • Hangingwater garden: Fieldfare - 1 - first record in 11 years actually in garden
  • Holmebrook Valley Park: Common Gull - 2 - On frozen lake ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 2 ; Black-headed Gull - 50+ ; Canada Goose - 4 - still on lake ; Tufted Duck - 2 - Male and female ; Bullfinch - 5+ - In bushes on east side of lake.
  • Malin Bridge: Fieldfare - 5 - in gardens, also present yesterday.
  • Millhouses: Fieldfare - 50+ - In Springfield Rd garden. ; House Sparrow - 22 - Springfield Rd garden ; Fieldfare - 1+ - small groups have occasionally been flying through all day ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1f
  • Norton Lees: Fieldfare - 50+ - In trees off Warminster Road ; Fieldfare - 1 - Chased down gardens by Magpies ; Redwing - 1 - Hanging round a berried holly on Warminster Road
  • R Don, Effingham St: Common Gull - 1 - ad on roof ; Canada Goose - 2
