  • Canklow: Goldfinch - 1 - On rock salt deposit area AMG works, seen Goldfinches on the mound previously 07.00
  • Canklow Woods: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - 1 reeling 1600
  • Centenary Riverside: Stock Dove - 2 - Pair feeding on path. ; Bullfinch - 1 - Male ; Reed Warbler - 2 - Singing from opposite sides of pond. ; Willow Warbler - 2 - Singing ; Blackcap - 1 - Singing ; Song Thrush - 3 - Singing ; Swallow - 1 ; 321 - 1 ; Moorhen - 3 - 1 adult , 2 large juvenile's on small pond. ; Gadwall - 2 - Small pond
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Greylag Goose - 13 ; Tufted Duck - 5 ; Kingfisher - 1 - Hovering over lake, then dived and caught fish. ; Black-headed Gull - 9 ; Swallow - 1
  • Dore: Pied Wagtail - 6 - Six fledged from a nest built in a sports ground roller.
  • Dore garden: Siskin - 2 - Male and female on garden feeder
  • Endcliffe Park: Swift - 2
  • Forge Dam: Mandarin - 8 - 1 male, 3 females & 4 juveniles
  • Leash Fen: Whitethroat - 1 ; 319 - 1 ; 320 - 1 - Female ; Curlew - 1 - calling ; Cuckoo - 2 - two separate calling males.
  • Millhouses Park: Mandarin - 1 - lone female. ; Moorhen - 3 - An adult, a fully fledged juv and a small juv, remnants from two broods so far this year. ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - Pair copulating.
  • Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 11 - including 8 churring at 2 sites.
  • Northern General Hospital: Ring-necked Parakeet - 15-25 - Flock calling loudly and flew into trees at the bottom of Barnsley Road.
  • Padley Gorge: Redstart - 2 - 2 males carrying food. ; Wood Warbler - 1 - Seeing off treecreeper. ; Pied Flycatcher - 5 ; Spotted Flycatcher - 3+ - pair taking food to rather exposed nest in crack in dead tree-chick's head seen.
  • R Don, Meadowhall: Sand Martin - 5 - max, mostly 2, over river ; Pied Wagtail - 2 - juvs on roof near Brightside Weir ; Moorhen - 6 - 1 on nest near Brightside Weir ; Mistle Thrush - 2 - over river ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing on river bank
  • Ramsley Res: Song Thrush - 1+ - adult plus recently fledged young ; Willow Warbler - 3 - 2 breeding pairs ; Siskin - 1 - a male ; Blackbird - 1 ; Blackcap - 1 ; Snipe - 1 ; Chaffinch - 1 ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing ; Whitethroat - 2 ; Spotted Flycatcher - 1 ; Goldcrest - 2 - singing
  • Rawmarsh Hill: House Martin - 1pr - visiting nest
  • Scholes Village: Green Woodpecker - 1 - calling
  • Shepherd Wheel: Kestrel - 1 - male
  • Treeton Dyke: Lesser Whitethroat - 2 - Singing ; Whitethroat - 1 - Singing ; Willow Warbler - 4 - Three singing ; Reed Warbler - 3 - Singing
  • Wadsley Common garden: Great Tit - 5 - Pair with fledglings.
  • West Nab: Lapwing - 3 - adult with 2 fluffy chicks .
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Nightjar - 1 - Male churring from 21:53 ; Woodcock - 5+ - at least 5 birds roding ; Tawny Owl - 1+ - Juvenile heard calling ; Pied Flycatcher - 4+ - 2 pairs still feeding juveniles in nest boxes, juveniles from other box fledged (5 territories in 2018) ; Great Tit - 10+ - Adult feeding chicks in nest box (23 occupied boxes in 2018) ; Blue Tit - 20+ - Several flocks of recently fledged juveniles seen in woodland (41 occupied nest boxes in 2018)
  • Wire Mill: Moorhen - 5 - 3 adults, 2 juveniles ; Mallard - 9 - female & 8 juveniles, fairly well developed

Sunday 10th June 2018

  • Aldwarke: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 9 - circling over, upsetting local Lapwings ; Lapwing - 2prs - one with young nearby ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Linnet - 2 - inc 1 singing ; Song Thrush - 2 - inc 1 singing ; Stock Dove - 1 ; Mute Swan - 7 - SW @ 0918hrs ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Magpie - c10 ; Ringed Plover - 1 - possibly a pair present? ; Grey Heron - 1 - NE (probably bird from canal basin seen earlier)
  • Barlborough Common: Skylark - 1
  • Barlow Common: 319 - 5 ; Yellowhammer - 2 ; Lesser Whitethroat - 1 ; Blackcap - 2 ; Whitethroat - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Swift - 3 ; Swallow - c.7 ; Linnet - 4 ; Kestrel - 2
