  • R Don, Effingham St: Lesser Black-backed Gull - c150 - Good numbers cooling off on the weir including 3 new colour rings, 2 presumed German yellow ringed 2cy birds, and a 2cy ringed as a chick last year in a colony near Stavanger, Norway. ; Kingfisher - 1

  • Scholes Ground: Reed Bunting - 1 - singing
  • Ughill Moors: Oystercatcher - 1 - roosting at pond ; Canada Goose - 2 - pair with 3 goslings Loftshaw pond.

  • Arbourthorne: Mallard - 11 - 1 F,6 young 1 F, 3 young ; Moorhen - 5 - 1 Ad 4 young ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - unusual here. ; Swift - 10 ; Chiffchaff - 1 - singing at 06:55
  • Broomhead Moor: Peregrine - 1 - imm/2cy on post
  • Calver Sough: Whitethroat - 1 - alarming
  • Cowell Flat: Whitethroat - 1 - singing
  • Holling Dale: Red Kite - 1 - 15:45-16:15
  • Leash Fen: Lesser Black-backed Gull - c50 - light passage SE all morning.
  • Lodge Moor: Curlew - 11 - 10 birds feeding on Hallamshire Golf Course (freshly watered 11th fairway). Also 1 bird feeding on freshly watered 14th green
  • Manor Fields Park: Whitethroat - 3 - 2 M 1F carrying food ; Chiffchaff - 2+ - at least 2 singing ; Blackcap - 5 - 3 singing male. ; Blackbird - 20 ; Song Thrush - 2 ; Mistle Thrush - 3 ; Starling - 18 ; Linnet - 7 - family party ; Goldfinch - 12 - Ad + young birds ; House Martin - 2 ; Swift - 4 ; Moorhen - 7 - 1 Ad 6 chick. ; Mallard - 13 - 1 M 5F 7young 05:30-06:45

  • R Don, Brightside Weir: Swift - 1 - with sand martins ; Sand Martin - 5 - max, mostly 1 ; Moorhen - 7 - 1 ad feeding juv on weir ; Moorhen - 7 - 2 ad with 3(?) young in nest
  • R Don, Brightside, Hawke St Bridge: Kingfisher - 3 - 2 ad feeding 1 juv ; Sand Martin - 10+ - 3 nesting holes in use N of bridge + some fluttering flight of young. Record shot ; Sand Martin - 10+ - young at nest entrance
  • Ramsley Res: Stonechat - 2 - pair ; Tree Pipit - 1+ - one singing, and maybe another alarming in wood. ; Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - calling/singing
  • Ravenfield: Tawny Owl - 1 - Chick calling from hole in roadside tree @ 8.45PM. ; Little Owl - 1 - Perched on farm machinery @ 10.05PM.

  • Brinsworth: 319 - 1 - Low over railway lines Barrett estate, rose in thermals moved South. 11.20
  • Broomhill, Sheffield High School: Swift - 6 - circling over school and seemed interested in eaves of adjacent building, but not seen entering
  • Cressbrook Dale: Linnet - 6 - family party
  • Heeley & Meersbrook Allotments: Kestrel - 1 - in evening hunting for around 20 minutes
  • Midhope Res: 320 - 1+ - Teal with 5+ ducklings
  • Ravenfield: Tawny Owl - 2 - Adult and chick calling early morning near dumpit site.
  • River Don Ball St Bridge: Sand Martin - 11
  • River Don Ball St Weir: Mallard - 4 - Pair with 2x three-week-old chicks
  • River Don Nursery St: Sand Martin - 2 ; Peregrine - 1
