Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 6 - ad pr + 4 imms vigorously exercising wings ; Wigeon - 9 ; Gadwall - 100+ ; 320 - 3+ ; Shoveler - 8 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Little Grebe - 2+ ; Great Crested Grebe - 3+ ; 319 - 1 - drifted south low over flash ; Moorhen - 8+ ; Coot - 90+

Chapeltown: Hobby - 1 - Low north over Burncross Road at 5pm

Midhope: Osprey - 1 - dropped down low across the fields next to Midhope Hall Lane in towards reservoir at 09:25

Norbriggs Flash: Little Egret - 1 ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 - Singing ; Willow Tit - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 8 ; Linnet - 36 ; Swallow - 3

Norfolk Park: Ring-necked Parakeet - 2 - seen and heard in trees on Norfolk Road. 2 birds seen flying away.

Norwood Allotments: Red Kite - 1 - over west at 15:30 ; House Martin - 7 - over west at 17:45 ; Swallow - 8 - over west at 17:50 seemingly following on behind the house martins.

R Don, Stevenson Rd: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - 1w again 18:15-19:00 with loafing Gulls ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c250 - including a colour ringed ad ringed Helgoland in 2010, and present here in Sept for it's 3rd successive year, and a new Belgian ringed bird. ; Great Black-backed Gull - 4 - adults ; Herring Gull - c15 ; Little Egret - 2 - in trees upstream at lunchtime. ; Cormorant - 3 - headed W, 2 U-turned back E ; 319 - 1

Ranmoor: Pink-footed Goose - C80 - Flying SE at 10:40

Rawmarsh: Common Buzzard - 3 - soaring over @ 1440hrs; left W/SW

Redmires Middle Res: Linnet - c150-200 - very large flock, very mobile, feeding on weed plants in reservoir basin

Silverwood Lagoon: Wigeon - 5

Arbourthorne: Pink-footed Goose - 150+ - 2 skeins 90+ and 60+ WNW at 09:20. ; Mallard - 7 ; Moorhen - 6 - on pond.

Beauchief: Raven - 4

Blackburn Meadows NR: Wood Duck - 2 - pair present on canal 20 meters from the canal locks at the entrance to the reserve. Both have fully feathered wings and were not ringed. Drake was in eclipse plumage.

Fulwood Head: Barn Owl - 1 - Sat on roadside fence at 06:50 hrs - flew off E

Leash Fen: Snipe - 1 - SW ; Meadow Pipit - 40+ ; Whinchat - 1 ; Stonechat - 3 - 3 juvs ; Siskin - 21

Manor Fields Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; House Martin - 5 - 3 south 2 feeding over site ; Swallow - 26 - 3+8+11+4.all south thru site.07:35-09:10. ; Blackcap - 1 - Male ; Chiffchaff - 3 - 2 singing ; Jay - 2 ; Moorhen - 15
