  • Chapeltown: Pink-footed Goose - 60 - c60 flew north
  • Ewden Cabin: Pink-footed Goose - 135 - 3 skeins (60,35,40) east before 10:00 ; Meadow Pipit - 220 - SW ; Lesser Redpoll - 10 - SW ; Siskin - 35 - SW ; Linnet - 7 - SW ; Goldfinch - 10 - SW ; Chaffinch - 10 - SW ; Swallow - 20 - south ; Golden Plover - 20 - west (12,7,1) ; Snipe - 6 - west
  • Forge Dam: Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Mandarin - 3
  • Fulwood: 319 - 1
  • Ibbotson Wheel Dam: Kingfisher - 1 - First sighting since March. A magpie seemed to be hassling this individual.
  • Linacre Res: Mallard - 83 ; Tufted Duck - 24 ; Great Crested Grebe - 10 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Mandarin - 63 ; Moorhen - 17 ; Coot - 5 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Siskin - 3
  • Middleton Moor: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 ; Linnet - 35 ; Pink-footed Goose - 20 ; House Sparrow - 2
  • Millhouses: Tawny Owl - 3 - Male calling from nearby tree to female on our chimney stack with a third responding in the distance
  • Redmires conduit: Red Grouse - 5 ; Mistle Thrush - 1
  • Redmires Top Res: Siskin - 3 ; Linnet - 40+ ; Kestrel - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 5 ; Crossbill - 2 - 2 juveniles in roadside conifers.
  • Rocher Top: Green Woodpecker - 1 - in trees below rocks ; Raven - 1 - circling over rocks near old farm ; Kestrel - 1 - hunting in strong breeze over rough grass
  • West Nab: Golden Plover - 33 - in field opposite farm

  • Aldwarke: Mute Swan - 5 - SW @ 0743hrs ; Pink-footed Goose - 300+ - 10 skeins (largest 70-75); tracked in over Thrybergh & Silver Wood, between 0720-0845hrs & passing over to W
  • Aldwarke; Liberty Steel: Cormorant - 13 - on pylon by 0830hrs ; Peregrine - 1 - adult on chimney from 0655hrs at least
  • Barlow Common: 319 - 3 ; Skylark - Dec-16 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Pheasant - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 4
  • Brecks, Rotherham: Raven - 1 - drifting S over Brecks harassing a Buzzard at 11.03.
  • Brightside: Pink-footed Goose - 38 - flew east at 09:30
  • Canklow Woods: Chiffchaff - 1 - singing
  • Catcliffe: Pink-footed Goose - 160 - c160 west at 10:32
  • Crookes: Pink-footed Goose - c.80 - Flying NW over Cobden View Road in two adjacent skeins
  • Ecclesall: Pink-footed Goose - 80 - c80 flew north at c10:55 ; Pink-footed Goose - 80 - c. flew N at 10:03 hrs
  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 1 - Close to Hunter's Bar at 7:25
  • Handsworth: Pink-footed Goose - 30 - south west over garden,07.30
  • Heeley City Farm: Common Buzzard - 1 - 12:55 - flew west low. mobbed by Magpie ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 2 - flying through heading south east. ; 319 - 1 - over drifting to the east.
  • Heeley/Highfields: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1 - frequent visits over past 4 days
  • Hurlfield: Pink-footed Goose - 70+ - 70-80 flew N/W at 19:25 calling.
  • Kiveton Community Woodland: Pink-footed Goose - 31 - 31 overhead at 07:45 heading west
  • Langsett Res: Pink-footed Goose - 80 - c80 flew east at 17:50
  • Middleton Moor: Marsh Harrier - 1 - a juv this evening ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1150 - in roost ; Black-headed Gull - 70 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1150 - c. roosted ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - roosted ; Black-headed Gull - 70 - c.roosted ; Marsh Harrier - 1 - juv provided superb views hunting over reedbed - dropped into roost at 18:40 hrs ; Jackdaw - 200 - c. roosted in copse by road ; Pied Wagtail - 100 - c. roosted - probably an under-estimate ; Linnet - 50 - c. post-breeding flock
  • Morehall Res: Pink-footed Goose - 23 - flew west towards Broomhead Moor
