  • Orgreave Lakes: Yellow-legged Gull - 2 ; Little Egret - 1 - On big lake early morning ; Little Egret - 1 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - 2nd and 3rd Summer ; Tufted Duck - 25 ; Pochard - 4 ; Wigeon - 1 - Drake with damaged wing on Small Lake. Still present 25th August

  • R Derwent, Harper Lees to. Leadmill: Pied Wagtail - 1 ; Dipper - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 2 1 ad, 1 juv
  • R Sheaf, Broadfield Rd: Mandarin - 10 - Including a female with a brood of five small ducklings.
  • Ravenfield Church: Tawny Owl - 2 - Plump fluffy owlet calling for food in woodland. Adult near church gate at last light.
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Song Thrush - 1 - singing
  • Silverwood Pit Top: Kestrel - 1 - Injured male seen be dog walker in morning - still in sane spot PM so rescued for hopeful recuperation by Raptor Rescue.
  • Surprise View area: 319 - 1
  • Totley Moss: 324 - 2 - Red Deer stags opposite Fox House
  • Woodseats - Chesterfield Road: Swift - 30+

Friday 7th June 2019

  • Canklow Woods: Oystercatcher - 1 - 1 north at 0915
  • Corker bottom: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female carrying prey to nest.
  • Greystones garden: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Female
  • Heeley: Swift - 4
  • Millhouses Lane garden: Blue Tit - 6+ - including fledglings ; Bullfinch - 6+ - including 2+ fledglings ; Goldfinch - 4+ - including 2+ fledglings ; Stock Dove - 1+ ; Dunnock - 2+ ; Blackbird - 3+ - including 2 males ; Coal Tit - 1 ; Great Tit - 2+ ; Robin - 2+ ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 - for the second day, female showing her offspring the delights of feeding on suet balls! Female disappeared leaving junior to it

  • Bamford Moor: Ring Ouzel - 1m ; Swift - 2 ; Curlew - 3+ ; Lapwing - 7+
  • Birley Edge: Swift - 15 - Largest number so far this year.
  • Catcliffe Flash: Little Egret - 1
  • Crookes Valley Park: Mistle Thrush - 3 - pair furiously mobbing Magpie intent on fresh fledgling which, at risk of subsequently being trampled by people playing sports, was moved to safety by observer. ; Herring Gull - 1 - adult
  • Dore: House Sparrow - 2 - 2 adults feeding 1+ young in observer’s garden. Good to have them back as breeding sp. again
  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 1 ; Coot - 3 - 2 adults 1 chick. ; Mallard - 2 - 3 Males, 1 F with only 2 ducklings from the 11 at the weekend. ; Grey Heron - 1 - Fishing. ; Black-headed Gull - 1 - Over. ; Song Thrush - 1 - Singing ; Mistle Thrush - 2 ; 319 - 1 - on telegraph pole ; Treecreeper - 1 ; Tree Sparrow - 2+ - Calling ; Yellowhammer - 1 - Singing Male. ; Reed Bunting - 2
