  • Bole Hill, Treeton: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - Singing in willows 200m north of Flatts Farm ; Tree Sparrow - 1 - Juvenile adjacent to Flatts Farm. Pair nested in wall of pet crematorium.
  • Burbage Valley: Cuckoo - 1 - calling ; Ring Ouzel - 1 - singing male ; Stonechat - 2 ; Whinchat - 4+ ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 4+ - 2 pairs collecting food ; Curlew - 4 - 3 flew over, 1 singing
  • Centenary Riverside: Grey Wagtail - 1 - On bridge 15.15 ; Song Thrush - 3 - Singing ; Kestrel - 1 - Hunting over site ; Mallard - 9 - 1 female with 4 young, 1 female with 2 young, 1 male. ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Blackcap - 1 - singing ; Reed Warbler - 2 - both with brief song ; Blue Tit - 04-May - Adult feeding 3-4 young ; 321 - 1 - pond
  • City Centre: Greenfinch - 1+ - occupied nest or family with young fledglings audible in bushes on The Moor by Moorfoot council offices
  • Crookes Valley Park: Mallard - 12+ - including females with 6 and 3 fresh chicks, and another with 2 half-grown chicks. Pair of adult Herring Gulls circling chicks. ; Herring Gull - 2 - adult pair circling fresh Mallard chicks
  • Curbar Gap: Barn Owl - 1 - successfully hunting the fields below Curbar Gap at 2pm before flying back towards the village.

  • Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 2+ - ad pr + single chick ; Gadwall - 14+ ; Little Grebe - 2 - ad pair at northern end ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - ad pr with nest ; Coot - 16+ - 6 occupied nests, just one juv ; Black-headed Gull - 2 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - over west ; Common Tern - 2 - 2 in at 13:35 didn't linger before continuing north
