  • Bradwell Edge: Kestrel - 1
  • Chesterfield Canal: Swift - 15 ; 319 - 2
  • Dukes Road: WHITE-TAILED EAGLE - 1 - presumably G318, circled up towards Middle Moss at the top of Dukes Road, headed slowly S high over Hollingdale, Strines Res, Moscar Cross and off S over Hallam Moors towards High Neb Stanage and lost to view, presumably heading back south 11:35-11:50.
  • Ecclesfield: Swift - 22 - Flock screaming together, High Street at 20:30
  • Firsby Res: Mute Swan - 2 - Resident pair. ; Mallard - 2 ; Moorhen - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - On small holding barn roof. ; 319 - 2 - Juvs calling from opposite ends of site. ; Kestrel - 1 - Hunting Male. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Calling in willows. ; Jay - 2+ - Lots of calling and squabbling in willows. ; Treecreeper - 2 - In woodland near entrance gate. ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Calling in undergrowth. ; Willow Warbler - 1 - Singing. ; Yellowhammer - 2 - Singing Males. ; Chaffinch - 1 - Male. ; Goldfinch - 30+ - Flock near newly built house on site of Water Board Cottage. Also nest exposed by flail. Chicks about to fledge. ; Bullfinch - 4+ - Heard not seen. ; Stock Dove - 2 ; Swallow - 10+ - Over site and surrounding farmland.
  • Fulwood Head: Curlew - 3 - ad & 2 fledged juvs in fields ; Swallow - 20 - c. around farm ; Swift - 1 - flew W ; Common Buzzard - 3 - hanging in the wind ; Starling - 10
  • Malin Bridge: Blue Tit - 2 - ad and juv in garden, first juv seen this year. ; Starling - 50+ - Large flocks 50+ coming into garden for several weeks now
  • Middleton Moor: Canada Goose - 20 ; Greylag Goose - 12 ; Coot - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 2 ; 320 - 8 ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 - juvs ; Black-headed Gull - 30 - c. roosted ; Common Gull - 1 - ad ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 900 - c. roosted ; Yellow-legged Gull - 12 - 10 ads / near ads + 2 x 1S ; Sand Martin - 4 ; Whitethroat - 1 ; Pied Wagtail - 20 - c.
  • Middlewood: Swift - 50+ - Largest evening gathering of the summer so far over Overton Road. ; House Martin - 0 - No sightings over garden all summer for first time in 20 years. Local colony of 10+ pairs around Carlton/Overton/Rockley/Ganton Road has now gone after a single pair last year.
  • Peat Pits: Black Redstart - 1 - fem/imm around farm buildings on Bolsterstone Road. ; Swift - 50+ - feeding flock ; Black Redstart - 1 - fem/imm around farm buildings (found by Chris Hurst)
  • Rawmarsh; Claypit Lane: Swift - 25-30 - flock, over estate where breeding usually takes place
  • Rawmarsh; Collier Brook Marsh: Willow Warbler - 1 - calling ; Kestrel - 1 - over, squabbling with Sparrowhawk, left E/SE ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - over, over, squabbling with Kestrel
  • Rawmarsh; Rosehill Park: Canada Goose - 4 - S ; Coal Tit - 1 - calling ; Nuthatch - 1 - calling ; Chiffchaff - 1 - calling ; Robin - 1+ - fledged juv ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 - over together, settled in treetops ; Stock Dove - 1 - singing
  • Rawmarsh; Sandhill Park: Sparrowhawk - 1 - calling (probably a juv) ; Chiffchaff - 2 - calling
  • Redmires Res: Tufted Duck - 4 - 2m + 1f & 1 juv ; Mallard - 12 ; Moorhen - 1 - juv on Middle Res ; Canada Goose - 12 ; Greylag Goose - 8 ; Kestrel - 2 - juvs ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - female over Bottom Res ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 26 ; Black-headed Gull - 69 - flew SW ; Stonechat - 4 - male & 3 juvs up the track towards Stanage ; Willow Warbler - 41 - around reservoir perimeter ; Chiffchaff - 4 - around reservoir perimeter ; Spotted Flycatcher - 1 - calling ; Whitethroat - 1 - flushed from nettle bed on Roper Hill ; Tree Pipit - 2 - 1 on track to Stanage + 1 flew S at 09:40 hrs - first visible migrant
  • Shatton: Swallow - 6 ; 324 - 2 - Roe Deer in fields above Shatton
  • Stanage Edge, below: Stonechat - 4 - family party between Dennis Knoll and Stanage Edge ; Tree Pipit - 1 - over calling ; 319 - 3 ; Kestrel - 3 ; Pheasant - 2 - female and well-grown juv
  • Stannington: Redstart - 1 - juvenile foraging in Bowcroft Cemetery
  • Thorpe Hesley: Swift - 15+ ; House Martin - 10+ ; Goldfinch - 15+ ; 319 - 4 ; Chiffchaff - 1
  • Thrybergh CP: Little Egret - 1 - Very confiding, left towards Ravenfield about 12:00pm
  • Wadsley Common garden: Long-tailed Tit - 13 - Through garden.
  • Warren Vale Community Woodland: Willow Warbler - 1 - hesitant song ; Chiffchaff - 2 - calling ; Bullfinch - 1 - calling ; Whitethroat - 3 - together on SE edge
  • Warren Vale LNR: Blackcap - 1 - brief song ; Nuthatch - 1 - calling ; Stock Dove - 1 - singing ; Chiffchaff - 1 - calling ; Kestrel - 1 - female over fields to N ; Swift - c15 - flock, high over fields to N
