Hudson*s Rough: Grey Heron - 1 - juvenile up from pond ; Wren - 1+ ; Robin - 1+ - singing ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling ; Long-tailed Tit - 1+ - calls ; Blue Tit - 1+ - calls ; Woodpigeon - 1+

Middleton Moor: Shelduck - 5 - juvs ; Little Ringed Plover - 4 - ad and 3 juvs ; Yellow Wagtail - 1+ ; Yellow-legged Gull - 3 - adults ; 320 - 14 ; 321 - 1 - over, flushed all the Gulls ; Black-headed Gull - 130 ; Herring Gull - 2 - 2s and 3s ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c300 - numbers building in evening.

Redmires Res: Little Grebe - 5 - Pair on Middle Res with 3 quite well-grown young - third successful year in a row at this site ; Tufted Duck - 4 - 2m + female with a single well-grown juv on Middle Res ; Mallard - 7 ; Common Buzzard - 1 - juv again over Redmires Plantation - constant mewing ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - over Bottom Res ; Kestrel - 2 ; Black-headed Gull - 14 - flew SW ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 25 - c. ; Herring Gull - 6 ; Tree Pipit - 7 - flew S/SW in 3 hrs - including a party of 4 ; Swallow - 25 - c. flew SW ; House Martin - 60 - c. flew SW over Roper Hill - late morning ; Swift - 2 - flew SW over Roper Hill ; Sand Martin - 1 - juv flew SW over Roper Hill ; Willow Warbler - 12 - around reservoir perimeter

Renishaw Lake: Gadwall - 50+ ; Coot - 37 ; Mute Swan - 7 - 2 adults; 5 cygnets ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - adult feeding 1 juv - Drake Chiloe Wigeon still on lake ; 321 - 2 ; Canada Goose - 14 - could have been considerably more hidden ; House Martin - c20

RVCP: Shoveler - 3 ; Pied Wagtail - 42 - single feeding flock

RVCP, Meadowgate Lake: Common Tern - 2 - Ad and juv

Strines Moor: Red Kite - 1

Thrybergh CP: Mediterranean Gull - 1 - loafing, preening in the shallows at 17:20 ; Black-headed Gull - 6 - In various moulting plumages, ; Common Tern - 1 - adult, loafing and occasional feeding flights, before leaving after twenty minutes or so.

Thrybergh Tip: Gadwall - 58 ; Coot - 14 ; Mallard - 4 ; Tufted Duck - 3 ; Moorhen - 2 ; Cetti's Warbler - 1 - singing, SW corner ; Reed Bunting - 1 ; Raven - 1 - on pylon calling before leaving towards Liberty Steels. Presumably same bird returned NE @ 0755hrs & settled on a distant pylon before continuing E/NE ; Mute Swan - 1pr+ - + 5 2/3 grown cygnets ; Swift - 2 - high over ; Jay - 5+ - inc a probable family party ; Bullfinch - 4 ; Long-tailed Tit - 10+ - in large, mixed flock ; Blackcap - 8+ - in large, mixed flock ; Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - in large, mixed flock ; Stock Dove - 1 - over ; Whitethroat - 1 - calling ; Chiffchaff - 25+ - probably many more; calling from all parts of site & accompanying tit-flocks

Barlow Common: Swift - 5+ ; Linnet - 2 ; Swallow - 1

Bingham Park: Moorhen - 6 - adult and 5 fully grown young on lower pond ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Mallard - 12

Crawshaw Farm: Rook - 60 - c60 feeding on recently cut silage field along with other corvids, gulls, pigeons and Swallows ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c60 - occasional replacement flocks of 5 - 10 birds arriving as others leave silage field where they were feeding alongside corvids etc ; Jackdaw - 40 - c40 arriving to feed on silage field ; Woodpigeon - 2 - feeding in silage field ; Swallow - 30 - c30 feeding over silage field ; Mistle Thrush - 07-Aug - family party flying towards Wet Shaw ; Goldfinch - approx 3 - vocal in tree tops of Royds Clough

Hallam Moor, north: Red Grouse - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing from trees near Oaking Clough ; Wren - 1 - singing ; Stock Dove - 1 - perched on shooting butt ; Meadow Pipit - 1

Middle Moss: Meadow Pipit - 2 ; Wren - 1

Moscar Cross: Swallow - 20+ - at least 15 fledglings on overhead wire waiting to be fed ; Stock Dove - 5 - feeding in pasture alongside 1 Woodpigeon ; Woodpigeon - 1 ; Carrion Crow - 4 - probably a family party

Moscar Lodge: House Martin - 15+ - Feeding. At least one flew at nests under house eaves ; Pheasant - 2 - juvs on track. Possibly from pens at Moscar Cross Farm

Moscar Moor: Herring Gull - c10 - flying roughly SW along valley towards Ladybower Res.

Nether Green: Blue Tit - 20+ - including adults and juvs (50/50) as part of large mixed flock passing through garden

Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Swift - 8 - 7 through rapidly S with handful of hirundines @ 1540hrs; 1 S/SW @ 1755hrs
