Canklow Woods: Sparrowhawk - 1 - displaying 0800

Crosspool: Waxwing - 50+ - Gathered in 1 tree and calling for 10 minutes plus, with groups of 8-10 birds peeling off from main flock to finish off the Rowan berries on neighbouring bushes before regrouping. ; Waxwing - 80 - Manchester Rd Flock increasing in numbers to 80 between 1125 and 1205 . ; Goldcrest - 3 ; Waxwing - 40+ ; Redwing - 3+ - with Waxwing ; Waxwing - 110 - In tree on Manchester Road at 15:30, presumably same flying to roost at Redmires late afternoon.

Edge Mount: Brambling - c60 - flighty flock in beech trees on Delf rd .

Firsby Res: Moorhen - 1 ; Grey Heron - 1 - Arrived from Ravenfield Ponds. ; Cormorant - 1 - Circled did not land due to frozen Res. ; Kestrel - 1 - Male. ; Herring Gull - 4+ ; Black-headed Gull - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 2 - With winter thrushes under apple tree. ; Fieldfare - 6+ ; Blackbird - 8+ ; Bullfinch - 5+ ; Linnet - 4+ ; Goldfinch - 10+ ; Chaffinch - 1 - Male ; Treecreeper - 2 - Singles calling at opposite ends of site.

Millhouses: Waxwing - 41 - In tall trees, Archer Road opposite the Sainsbury's entrance. There on two occasions during the afternoon. presumably disturbed from feeding elsewhere.

Parkgate: Waxwing - 4 - in tree on Mangham road

Peat Pits: Grey Partridge - 19 - single covey in surrounding fields ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - female with starling in talons. ; Meadow Pipit - 5 ; Starling - c200 ; Fieldfare - 5
