  • Greave*s Piece: Great Grey Shrike - 1 - still present S of Greave's Piece at 17:45
  • Longshaw: Grey Wagtail - 1 - On stream by path to lodge, Woodcroft CP ; Brambling - 3 - On feeders at MDC
  • Lowedges: Sparrowhawk - 1 - in garden on Gervase Drive
  • Nether Edge: Waxwing - 5 - Steade Road at 09:00
  • Orgreave Lakes: Goldeneye - 14 - Record count at this site

  • Attercliffe: Iceland Gull - 1 - 2w in flight 8:50 heading towards Warren St.Still present at 14:00, in flight around Warren Street.
  • Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 6 - ad pr + 4 imm ; Gadwall - 22 ; 320 - 10+ ; Shoveler - 1 ; Pochard - 18 ; Tufted Duck - 12+ ; Cormorant - 1 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Moorhen - 2+ ; Coot - 16 ; Black-headed Gull - 80
  • Nether Edge: Waxwing - c.42 - low NNE over junction of Abbeydale Road/Sheldon Road at c.14.20.
  • Oughtibridge: Waxwing - 30 - On rowan on Coward Drive briefly.
  • Rotherham Centre: Goosander - 1 - drake SW @ 1207hrs
  • Sheffield Centre: Dipper - 1 - singing Lady's Bridge
  • Treeton: Waxwing - 20+ - around High Hazel a.m/Treeton cricket ground p,m,

  • Attercliffe: Iceland Gull - 1 - 2w/3cy again 13:30-13:40 Warren St/Foley St before flying towards Tesco. ; Iceland Gull - 1 - 16:00 hrs Warren Street
  • Beauchief Abbey Ponds: 320 - 3 - females
  • Bramall Lane: Waxwing - c25 - In trees next to JE James Cycles
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 1
  • Fulwood garden: Brambling - 4 - regularly visiting feeders
  • Hillsborough: Waxwing - c15 - Feeding on berries at War Memorial Hall at the junction of Walkley Lane and Forbes Rd
  • Little Common Lane, Whirlow: Waxwing - 60+ - Moving between tall tree and rowan at front of St Luke's car park.
  • Manor Top: Waxwing - 30+ - Briefly landed on a berry bush outside the old fire station at the top of Pit Lane
  • Orgreave Lakes: Goldeneye - 10 - 2 males,8 females together large lake. ; Goosander - 9 ; Waxwing - 105 - In trees by river bridge at 15:50 ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - 1st winter in small roost ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - 2nd winter in roost
  • Rawmarsh: 319 - 8 - 8 birds soaring together over Kent Ave for 10 mins 1240 > 1250 before drifting off W towards Hoober
  • Redmires Middle Res: Black-headed Gull - 171 - roosted ; Tufted Duck - 1 - male ; Lapwing - 60 - on shoreline; flushed by dog off lead
  • Redmires Res: Mistle Thrush - 4 - 3 singing late afternoon
  • Rivelin, car park: Treecreeper - 1 - Seen feeding on the ground underneath the feeders.
  • Soughley Lane, Redmires: Greylag Goose - 24 - grazing in fields ; Canada Goose - 22 - grazing in fields
  • Treeton: Waxwing - 74+ - at High Hazel Road, Treeton at 13:15 ; Waxwing - 74+ ; Waxwing - 74+ ; Waxwing - 74+

Monday 6th February 2017

  • Attercliffe: Blackbird - 4 - 1 adult male feeding 3 recently fledged juvs. On the grassed central reservation between Sheffield Arena and the Table Table restaurant at 15.40.
  • Big Moor: Stonechat - 1
  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 2 - Close to Hunters' Bar at 7:20
  • Froggatt Edge: Lesser Redpoll - c80 - in wood above Chequers pub with a few Goldfinch
  • Handsworth garden: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Goldfinch - 7 ; Bullfinch - 3 - ( pair daily).
  • Low Moor, Upper Midhope: Greylag Goose - 14
  • Midhope Res: 320 - 22 ; Mallard - 16
  • Norton Lees: Blackcap - 1 - male at sunflower hearts
  • Norwood Allotments: Raven - 1 - High over west calling at 11:55
  • Orgreave Lakes: Goldeneye - 5 ; Goosander - 7
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 80+ - possibly more; birds dispersed along adjacent canal
  • R Don, Oughtibridge: Dipper - 2 - one bird singing
  • Rotherham Centre; All Saints* Churchyard: Goldfinch - 30+ - gathering noisily in treetops @ 1615hrs, pre-roost, with more birds arriving
  • Rotherham Centre; Don Canal, Brown*s Cut: Kingfisher - 1 - flew along cut towards Bridge Street @ 1603hrs
  • Sheffield Canal Basin: Redwing - 6 - in trees near Ant Marketing at 11:00
  • Totley: Waxwing - 28+ - In top of large tree, junction Totley Grange Road and Baslow Road, flushed by Mistake Thrush to large tree at top of Totley Grange Road, flew off NE.
  • Treeton: Waxwing - 70+ - between church and High Hazel Rd (still some berries around) Initially flew from by river bridge onto lagoons at 10.20. ; Waxwing - 70 - Flew in top of tree at High Hazel Road at 15:10
  • White Edge: Pink-footed Goose - 120

Sunday 5th February 2017

  • Agden Side: Pink-footed Goose - 1200+ - Several flocks over W throughout the day ; Lapwing - 30 - over ; Crossbill - 2 - over
