  • Norton Lees: Mistle Thrush - 2 - Feeding in observer's garden
  • Queens Road, S2: Waxwing - c40 - Noisy flock settled briefly in tree in Halfords car park at 9.30
  • Sharrow: Waxwing - c100 - Either in tall trees behind Rossi's restaurant, or swooping down in small flocks to tackle the remaining berries in the trees at the intersection of Sharrow Lane and London Road.

Friday 24th February 2017

  • Agden Side: Stonechat - 2 - 2 males
  • Arundel St./Furnival St., Sheffield City Centre: Waxwing - 50 - Flock flying around city centre.
  • Attercliffe: Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - 2w on roof at Warren St ; Herring Gull - 10 - inc this obvious adult 'argentatus'
  • Banner Cross: Waxwing - 40 - seen again near Methodist church, at 9.30am and briefly at 4.30pm ; Waxwing - 28 - Looked to be a pre-roost gathering at 4.30, with small flocks arriving every few minutes. Dispersed by Carrion Crow landing in the same tree.
  • Barlow Brook: Mistle Thrush - 2
  • Barlow Common: 319 - 2
  • Bolsterstone Heads: Mistle Thrush - 2 ; Fieldfare - 13 - calling from large trees near Hall ; Wren - 1 - singing in ivy ; Great Tit - 4 ; Blue Tit - 3 ; Woodpigeon - 5
  • Bolsterstone Heads Lane: Starling - 50+
  • Bolsterstone Stonemoor: Lapwing - 100+ - in fields nex to stonemoor Road ; Curlew - 2 - Calling perched on stone wall in same area as Lapwings ; Rook - 8 - in field with sheep
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 4 - 4 in the air together at 0945
  • Cowley Lane, Holmesfield: Barn Owl - 1 - Flying low / hunting at 18:30
  • Damflask Res: Mandarin - 16 - 9 males and 7 females
  • Darnall: Greenfinch - 9 - single group feeding under bushes on Greenland estate .
  • Ecclesall Woods: Waxwing - 24 - SW/WSW over playing fields
  • Edge Mount: Snipe - 1 - chipping at dusk .
