Barbrook Plantation: Willow Warbler - 15+ - Singing throughout the wood ; Redstart - 2 - Singing briefly ; Tree Pipit - 1 - Singing

Barbrook Pools: Whinchat - 1 - Male ; Willow Warbler - 1 - Singing by cottage

Bradfield/Rocher: Green Woodpecker - 2 - One flew past into large tree whilst a second was calling some distance away ; Snipe - 1 - chipping from rough pasture ; Swallow - 1 - Circling area by old farm ; Willow Warbler - 20+ - many singing ; Pied Wagtail - 2 ; Curlew - 3 ; Linnet - 3

Gleadless: Common Buzzard - 7 - together over Gleadless valley at 14:40 then drifted S/W.

Leash Fen: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - Reeling. Heard several times during morning. Possibly the Barbrook Bridge bird.

Limb Valley: 319 - 1 - mewing over Whirlowbrook Hall ; Redstart - 1 - m singing near path to Smeltings Farm ; Wheatear - 2 - pair near Smeltings Farm ; Reed Bunting - 1 - m singing near boggy area at head of valley

Manor Fields Park: Sedge Warbler - 1 - 07:18 central area. ; Sand Martin - 2 - flew through at 07:45. ; Blackcap - 4 - 3 male. ; Willow Warbler - 3 ; Moorhen - 5 - pair with 3 well grown young

Millhouses Park: Mandarin - 3 ; Mallard - 1+ - female and 12 very small ducklings

Napier Street: Carrion Crow - 1 - Flying aggressively after an adult woodpigeon over Napier Street. Successfully brought it to the ground in an empty car park behind Aviva building on Pear Street. Crow proceeded to kill the pigeon and began eating it.

Redmires conduit: Oystercatcher - 4 - one pair in the fields flew away over the moor, another pair flew over the upper Res ; Golden Plover - 61 - Including many in fine plumage ; Lapwing - 20 - Including 8 birds sitting on nests ; Snipe - 1 ; Oystercatcher - 1 - Over calling ; Swift - 1 - Headed E down Rivelin Valley ; Redstart - 1 - singing male
