  • Bents Green: Nuthatch - 2 - One on step outside French window, one on garden path. May have been consorting with a party of Great and Blue Tits who were also foraging in garden.
  • Burbage Moor: Stonechat - 2
  • Coppice Wood: Redstart - 1+ - a female feeding a fledged juv. ; Pied Flycatcher - 1 - female carrying food.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Common Tern - 1 ; Dunlin - 1 ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Curlew - 1 - Heard calling but not seen. ; Kingfisher - 1 - Over the main lake at 0800. ; Great Crested Grebe - 34

Wednesday 28th June 2017

  • Malin Bridge: Curlew - 1 (+)? - calling somewhere in low cloud and rain, appeared to be heading E
  • Orgreave Lakes: Curlew - 6 - NW At 0750.
  • R Don, Effingham St: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - adult caught and ate a Mallard chick, swallowing it whole.

Tuesday 27th June 2017

  • Bitholmes House (Wharcliffe Side): Tawny Owl - 3+ - adult plus at least 2 juveniles either side of Manchester Road
  • Bolsterstone: Tawny Owl - 1 - female singing small wood north of Nook Farm
  • Bolsterstone/Heads lane area: Lapwing - 9 - feeding in pasture ; Curlew - 3 - calling and circling area ; Snipe - 1 - flew up from side of seat at end of lane ; Swallow - 15+ - hawking around farms on lane ; Coal Tit - 5 - family on feeders at farm ; Skylark - 1 - singing in flight
  • Morehall: Tawny Owl - 4+ - 2 groups of juveniles calling
  • Orgreave Lakes: Mediterranean Gull - 1 - adult early morning, then flew north ; Curlew - 4
  • Overstones Farm: Curlew - 4 - One + juv, 2 flying round fields calling ; Kestrel - 1 - Hovering over fields & moors ; Lapwing - 3 - Pair with 1 juv ; Pheasant - 1 ; Swallow - 3 - Over moors ; 324 - 1 - Large hare
  • Rotherham Centre; Chantry Bridge: Sand Martin - c40 - feeding around riverside treetops
