  • Green Moor: Hobby - 1 ; Little Owl - 1 - Again this evening in its favourite tree
  • Handsworth: Curlew - 1 - calling over garden, 22.05
  • Lodge Moor: Lesser Redpoll - 2 - Regular visits to feeders over last week

  • Redmires Middle Res: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling briefly at dusk ; Curlew - 16 - roosted ; Black-headed Gull - 8 - only Gulls that roosted.

  • Middleton Moor: Black-headed Gull - 56 - Including 6 recently fledged juvs ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 148 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - Adult ; Curlew - 21
  • Morley Pond: Mute Swan - 7 - 2 adults with 5 juvs ; Mallard - 10+ ; Tufted Duck - 6 ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 3+ - Adult with juvs ; Tawny Owl - 1 - Hunting in wooded area ; Swallow - 5+ ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - Singing from area of dense willow ; Whitethroat - 2 - Singing ; Blackcap - 2 - Singing ; Chiffchaff - 1 - Singing ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Singing

  • Redmires conduit: QUAIL - 1 - heard singing two phrases at 20.05 but nothing else by 21.00 ; Golden Plover - 21 - circling overhead ; Linnet - 2+ - including presumed pair, male singing

  • Attercliffe: Peregrine - 1 - red ringed PTF on the Bernard Road incinerator building
  • Bowden Wood estate: Blackbird - 9 - 2 m feeding fledged juvs .
  • Canklow Woods: Long-tailed Tit - 14 ; Common Buzzard - 2 - In air together near McDonald's roundabout ; Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling 2200
  • Catcliffe Flash: 320 - 1 - fem type
  • Crosspool: Swift - 20+
  • Green Moor: Little Owl - 1 - seen 7.15am and hunting again around 7pm ; Hobby - 1 - Adult through at 19:30 ; Hobby - 1 - record shot
  • Hesley Wood: Common Buzzard - 1 - soaring over @ 1710hrs
  • Leash Fen: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - Reeling Ramsley Res side
  • Malin Bridge: Swallow - 6 - over W, post breeding dispersal.
  • Middleton Moor: Whitethroat - 2+ - 2 adults feeding 2 fledged juvs
  • Moorland Fringe: Nightjar - 3 - Pair displaying plus at least one further churning bird
  • Olympic Legacy Park: Mistle Thrush - 22+ - 11 feeding on newly lawned areas left east at 10:10, then 22 flew over west at 10:25
  • R Don, Norfolk Bridge: Black-headed Gull - c40 - 3 juvs
  • Rawmarsh; Rectory Fields allotments: Nuthatch - 1 - calling @ 0740hrs; very unusual here. Presumably result of post-breeding dispersal
  • Redmires: Curlew - 10 - south ; Merlin - 1 - female hunting over bracken beds
  • Rotherham Centre; Chantry Bridge: Sand Martin - 30-40 - feeding around riverside treetops
  • Sheffield Airport: Lesser Black-backed Gull - c200 - on old overgrown runway ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - adult
