  • Orgreave Lakes: Redshank - 11 - including party of 8 on small lake ; Cuckoo - 1 - Between west shore of big lake and tip access road.
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 15+ - + 1 young cygnet; bred nearby ; Black-headed Gull - c30 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 - 2 cy ; Herring Gull - 1 - 3 cy
  • Redmires Top Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 1 - at least one in top plantation ; Tufted Duck - 1 - male ; Mallard - 2+ - females with 4 and 1 small chicks respectively ; Canada Goose - 4+ - two pairs with 3 well-grown juvs each
  • Sothall: House Sparrow - 20 - Including at least 10 juvs

  • Barbrook Plantation: Redstart - 6 - 2 adults feeding 4 fledged young
  • Bramley: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Female carrying prey over houses presumably back to nest.
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 2 - 2 in the air together mobbed by sparrowhawk
  • Firsby Res: 319 - 1 ; 319 - 1 ; Mallard - 20+ - Inc well grown and new born ducklings. ; Moorhen - 1 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 2 ; Reed Warbler - 1 - Singing ; Blackcap - 1 - Singing. ; Whitethroat - 4 - All together pair with juvs? ; Lapwing - 1 - Over farmland. ; Sand Martin - 4 - Feeding low over Main Res. ; Swallow - 1
  • High Bradfield: 322 - 1 - Black Swan in usual field below High Bradfield church, on it's own.
  • Howden Dam: Redstart - 2+ - alarming male and at least one juv windy corner. ; Common Sandpiper - 6+ - pair with 3 chicks Kings Tree plus at least another 2 pairs. ; Tree Pipit - 4 - singing birds, 2 on W side above Kings Tree, 2 on E side. ; Whinchat - 1 - male alarming E side below Slippery Stones.
  • Howden Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 2+ - 2 pairs, above and below Kings Tree ; Cormorant - 2 - on towers
  • Old Ravenfield: Kestrel - 3 - F feeding two downy chicks in nest box. ; Tawny Owl - 1 - Fledgling in woodland early morning.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Little Egret - 1 - Dropped onto big lake at 06:30 ; Common Tern - 3 - on big lake early morning
  • Oughtibridge jawbone hill: Little Owl - 1 - calling from telegraph pole at dusk . ; Kestrel - 1 - male hunting at dusk.
  • Ouzelden Arm Derwent Res: Tree Pipit - 3 - one singing
  • Ravenfield Ponds: Green Woodpecker - 2 - 2 Juvs. ; Grey Wagtail - 1 - In sluice on bottom pond. ; Bullfinch - 2 - 2 Males.
  • Rawmarsh; Rectory Fields allotments: Chiffchaff - 1 - singing male present daily 21-24/06 inclusive
  • Redmires Middle Res: Hobby - 1
  • Royds Moor Hill, near Morthen: Common Buzzard - 1 - hanging in wind by roadside
  • Thrybergh CP: Great Crested Grebe - 4 ; Cormorant - 2 - ad ; Tufted Duck - 27 - 20m7f ; 319 - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - m thro w ; Kestrel - 1 - m ; Black-headed Gull - 30 - + ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 3 - ad left w ; Swift - 450 - + feeding over fields till 0845 drifted s ; Skylark - 2 - sing ; Sand Martin - 10 - 6 feeding in s/arm then a strange 7th bird came in it seemed to have a long white tail but flushed by s/hawk ; Swallow - 8 ; House Martin - 1 ; Wren - 17 - sing ; Song Thrush - 2 - sing ; Blackbird - 14 - 7sing ; Blackcap - 9 - sing
