  • Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 5 - ad pr + 3 imm ; Gadwall - c20 ; Shoveler - 4 ; Pochard - 6 ; Tufted Duck - 6+ ; Cormorant - 3 ; Black-headed Gull - c70 ; Coot - c80 ; Blackbird - 5 - inc 4 feeding on hawthorn by lay-by ; Redwing - 2+
  • Crookes Valley Park: Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Nuthatch - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Graves Park: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1 - Visible from path into woods down from Charles Ashmore Rd car park. In tree tops being harassed by 2 magpies.
  • Hangingwater: Tawny Owl - 1 - frequent calling every night for at least two weeks
  • Hudson*s Rough: Blackbird - 2+ ; Long-tailed Tit - 6+ ; Blue Tit - 1+ ; Great Tit - 1+ ; Nuthatch - 1 - calling ; Magpie - 1+
  • Middleton Moor: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 160 ; Herring Gull - 6 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 4 - Adults ; Common Gull - 3 ; Black-headed Gull - 12 ; Goosander - 1 - Male dropped in at 16.15
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 85-90 - inc 8-9 1cy ; Whooper Swan - 1 ; Mallard - c60 ; Greylag Goose - 1 ; Bullfinch - 2 ; Song Thrush - 2
  • R Don, Eastwood: Cormorant - 5 - in from NE, circled several times & dropped towards river @ 0810hrs
  • Redmires Middle Res: Golden Plover - 1 - one solitary, no Lapwings
  • Roughwood Rec: Herring Gull - 2 ; Black-headed Gull - 30+ ; Common Gull - 1 ; Rook - 2 ; Jackdaw - 3 ; Carrion Crow - 1+
  • Sheffield Centre; Eyre Street: Peregrine - 1 - low over to N/NE @ 1350hrs
  • Sheffield Centre; Spital Hill/Saville Street: Sparrowhawk - 1 - over to S/SE @ 1335hrs

  • Wyming Brook: Goldcrest - 4 ; Bullfinch - 3 - 2 male, 1 female ; Treecreeper - 1 - At feeders

Tuesday 28th November 2017

  • Endcliffe: Blackbird - 3 - m close together in small tree near road, one singing full song vigorously ; Dunnock - 1 - singing near roadside
  • Greystones garden: Redwing - 1 ; Bullfinch - 3 - Males seen at the same time
  • Morley Pond: Cormorant - 22 - high count, birds flying around Cascades area ; Mute Swan - 7 - family plus 1 juv ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 2 - Ad male. Poss same seen later grappling on ground with imm male ; Lapwing - 18 - above fields N W of lake. ; Grey Heron - 3 - in fields N of lake ; Mallard - 5+ ; Woodpigeon - 50+ ; Pheasant - 1+ - shoot in progress
