  • Bingham Park: Kingfisher - 1 - male, probably same as Shepherds Wheel, caught & ate fish
  • Brownhills Lane: Kestrel - 2 - pair sheltering from strong wind
  • Howden Res: PARROT CROSSBILL - 9 - flew in to drink at puddle site at 0930, with 2 Common (M+F)
  • Millhouses: Blackcap - 1 - male to fat balls in Springfield Rd garden.
  • Sheffield University-St Georges: Peregrine - 2 - On east face of tower
  • Shepherd Wheel: Kingfisher - 1 - male, flew down stream

  • Catcliffe Flash: Mute Swan - 5 - ad pr + 3 imm ; Gadwall - 20 ; 320 - 15 ; Shoveler - 7 ; Pochard - 7 ; Tufted Duck - 8 ; Cormorant - 4 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Coot - c50 ; Black-headed Gull - 60 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 2
  • Handsworth garden: Greenfinch - 13 - On feeders ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Howden Res: PARROT CROSSBILL - 8+ - On the edge of Ronksley South Plantation this morning. Minimum of 8 (maximum 11) feeding in pine at SK 16434 93585, drinking at puddle at SK 16399 93545, and perching in bare trees beside it. Access from layby at SK 16703 93187 then walk 450 m along the track running steeply up the hill to the NW until country opens out. Keep sensible distance(say 15 m) from puddle to allow the birds to drink. ; Crossbill - 3 ; Raven - 2 ; PARROT CROSSBILL - 8+ - Additional note; of the 8 seen well 3 were males, 5 female/immature (including 1 with a well marked greater covert wing bar) ; PARROT CROSSBILL - 9 - Good views of at least 9 this morning, coming to drink at a puddle along track and feeding in nearby scotspine ; PARROT CROSSBILL - 8+ - At least 8 showing well at SK 164 936, up the track on north edge of Nether Wood Plantation by puddle on track and dead trees 11:30

  • Rawmarsh:Haugh Rd: Raven - 1 - SW over playing field @ 15.35

  • Upper Derwentdale: PARROT CROSSBILL - 2+ - 2-3 Parrot Crossbill with flock of 20 Crossbill. ; Crossbill - 20
  • Walkley garden: Redwing - 4 - feeding mainly on holly berries ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - perched in ash tree

  • Bingham Park: 320 - 1 - Male - on pond adjacent to Westwood Road (also seen yesterday morning)
  • Bradfield: Barn Owl - 1 - perched on wall near crossroads at cowell flat and flew off towards smallfield.
  • Broomhead Res: Tawny Owl - 1 - flew across New Road from trees at side of reservoir
  • Foxhill: Pink-footed Goose - c40 - Low west over top of Fox Hill at 09:35
