  • Wheston: 319 - 1 ; Common Gull - 25 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - took a Starling from among a flock of 40+, showing that the 'safety in numbers' theory does not always work ; Lapwing - 3 ; Meadow Pipit - 1

  • Bole Hill Rec: Tawny Owl - 2 - rival males hooting in woodland off Bole Hill Road
  • Brownhills Lane: Lapwing - 200+ - In fields at side of road at 9am
  • Damflask Res: Oystercatcher - 1 - on overflow at dusk ; Mandarin - 10

  • Middleton Moor: Golden Plover - 41 ; Skylark - c.70 - more Skylarks than I have ever seen together before. They were feeding in a field
