  • Canklow: Grey Wagtail - 1 - Male singing in AMG works 05.15 ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - Feeding on field AMG works 07.30 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - On field , carrying food AMG. ; Kestrel - 1 - Hunting over field AMG.
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 2 - pair in the air at 1430

  • Hollinsend Park: Starling - 36 - mostly adults but several new young birds. ; Goldfinch - 20 - all adults. ; Mistle Thrush - 1

  • Hurlfield: Tawny Owl - 3 - 1 adult +2 young still 21:30. ; Swift - 8 - overhead
  • Jaunty Park: Long-tailed Tit - 14 - c14 birds inc many new fledged young 07:45. ; Blackcap - 1 - singing male ; Song Thrush - 3 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Robin - 4 - singing around site
  • Meadowhall: Skylark - 1 - singing above waste ground between Mall and IKEA!
  • Orgreave Lakes: Arctic Tern - 1 - On tern rail briefly then North at 07:10 ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Swift - c.100 ; Reed Warbler - 1 - Singing upstream of River bridge
  • R Don, Effingham St: Kingfisher - 1 - plus the Yellow-bellied Slider has survived the winter.
  • R Don, Meadowhall: Sand Martin - 10 - 10 max, mostly group of 4 flying over river ; Mallard - 12 - 5m and 2f, one with 5 chicks ; Moorhen - 6 ; Grey Wagtail - 5 - 2 prs plus 1m. One pr flying over Vickers building ; Mistle Thrush - 3 - 1 ad feeding 2 juv ; Jay - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - 1 ; Herring Gull - 2 ; Lesser Whitethroat - 1 - singing ; Willow Warbler - 1 - singing ; Garden Warbler - 1 - singing
  • R Don, Norfolk Bridge: Swift - c30 - low over river this am ; Herring Gull - c25 - high numbers for this time of year ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c40 - inc 3cy ringed as a chick in Vest-Agder Norway in 2016, and also present here in June/July 2017, and a 2cy ringed last year as a chick on Burhou, nr Alderney in the Channel Islands.
  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; Chantry Bridge: Sand Martin - 15+ - around colony
  • Redmires: Willow Warbler - 2
  • Redmires conduit: Meadow Pipit - 12+ ; Swallow - 1
