  • Damflask Res: Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - 2 on north bank in trees near the large water pipe. ; Swallow - 40+ - Around dam wall
  • Firsby Res: Grey Heron - 1 ; Moorhen - 7 - Family feeding on mud., ; Black-headed Gull - 1 ; Yellowhammer - 1 - Singing Male ; Linnet - 1 ; House Martin - 25+
  • Howden Res: Whinchat - 9 - a group of two adults and seven young watched moving around together on the heather scrub calling constantly.

  • Orgreave Lakes: Mediterranean Gull - 1 - juvenile, first thing this morning ; Little Egret - 1 ; Dunlin - 4 ; Common Sandpiper - 2

  • Silver Wood: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling on Pingle Lane Tip at 09.55
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Curlew - 1 - south at 08.40 ; Gadwall - 5 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 6 - 2-2-1-1 SW ; Herring Gull - 2 - SW ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - female over western paddocks ; Kestrel - 1 ; Goldfinch - c.30 - several small parties on pit top

  • Treeton Dyke: Mute Swan - 2+ - pair with two well-grown cygnets; Falconer Road end ; Great Crested Grebe - 2+ - pair with two fully grown juvs; ; Pochard - 4 ; Tufted Duck - 11 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Skylark - 2+ - adult attended at least one well-grown juv (able to fly) in recently cut field ; 324 - 2 - pair of Small Red-eyed Damselflies ovipositing

  • Brinsworth: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Young male sat on neighbours fence nr Thirsty Flame 12.25 , flew low over Whitehill lane - West.
  • Canklow Woods: Grasshopper Warbler - 1 - reeling at 0700
  • Firsby Res: Little Egret - 1 - On mud at far end of main Res. ; Lapwing - 1 - Feeding on Mud. ; Grey Heron - 1
  • Greystones: Swift - 3
  • Lodge Moor: Tawny Owl - One - Regular visitor to a telegraph pole after dark over last two weeks
  • Middleton Moor: Whinchat - 3 - a nice surprise ; Sand Martin - 6 ; Willow Warbler - 11 ; Whitethroat - 3 ; Swift - 1 ; Sedge Warbler - 1 - Still singing ; Swallow - 65 - West in 30 minutes 12.00-12.30 ; Coot - 2 - Adult and well grown juv
  • Millhouses: House Sparrow - 26 - In a Springfield Rd garden,
  • Orgreave Lakes: Sanderling - 1 - summer plumaged adult with 3 adult Dunlin ; Dunlin - 5 - 3 adults with Sanderling, plus 2 flighty birds ; Common Sandpiper - 2 - plus probable Whimbrel through N tonight
