R Don, Effingham St: 336 - 1 - on weir at 07:30 then left towards city ; 336 - 1 - dropped in for 20 mins at around 13:00 ; 336 - 1 - Effingham Street this morning ; 336 - 1 ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - juvenile present for c2 weeks, previously id'd as a yellow-legged Gull.

RVCP: Sparrowhawk - 3+ - Adult and at least two begging juveniles.

Wadsley Common: Barn Owl - 1 - Hunting over field to north of Loxley House Farm. First record since we moved here 23 years ago.

Manor Fields Park: Moorhen - 13 - 2 Ad .7 juv .4 chick. ; Mallard - 7 ; Chiffchaff - 4 ; Whitethroat - 4 ; Blackcap - 1 ; Linnet - 14 ; Goldfinch - 60+ ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - male over with small prey item. ; Swift - 4 - thru S/E. ; House Martin - 20+ - 20-30 birds feeding over northern end. 19.15.

Orgreave Lakes: Little Egret - 2 - on island ; Common Sandpiper - 4

Redmires Middle Res: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 60 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - adults ; Curlew - 10 - 5 flew in at sunset ; Common Sandpiper - 1 ; Greylag Goose - 18 - including (flying) broods of 4 and 2, plus 2 younger goslings. ; 324 - 25 - compact flock of medium sized waders heading low from N over Hallam Moors, swung E avoiding Resrs, then lost heading SE over Roper Hill. On a mission, and probably Whimbrel.

Moorwood Lane (SK3078): Sandwich Tern - 2 - flying over farmland. Circled low twice in lee of hill before continuing S in a strengthening wind.
