  • Swinton: 319 - 1 - In field off Abdy lane nr golf club. Sat on small carcass with 2 Magpies in attendance 16.20.
  • Thrybergh CP: Great Crested Grebe - 12 ; Little Grebe - 4 ; Cormorant - 3 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Mute Swan - 11 ; Canada Goose - 112 ; Greylag Goose - 220+ ; Gadwall - 7 ; Pochard - 15 ; Tufted Duck - 27 ; 319 - 1 - in field ; Water Rail - 3 ; Lapwing - 40+ ; Black-headed Gull - 80+ ; Herring Gull - 2 ; Little Owl - 1 - flushed by dog walkers ; Skylark - 40+ - in far east fields ; Tree Sparrow - 2 - at feeders ; House Sparrow - 1 - odd bird prob hybrid hs/ts ; Bullfinch - 12 - 06/04/2002 ; Brambling - 14+ ; Yellowhammer - 3 - at feeders ; Golden Plover - 1 - Over Dam wall calling approx 14:00.

  • Baslow SF: Pied Wagtail - 70 - On filters in freezing conditions ; Meadow Pipit - 4 - On filters in freezing conditions
  • Bolehill Flash: Water Rail - 1 - On unfrozen ground by river ; Greylag Goose - 67 - In fields ; Pink-footed Goose - 39
  • Botanical Gardens: Long-tailed Tit - 10+
  • Crookes Valley Park: Wigeon - 1 - female on 75% frozen lake - site first; no doubt bird from Weston Park (no sign there), so it can fly! ; Mallard - 95 - high count, with 75% frozen lake ; Black-headed Gull - 204 ; Herring Gull - 3 - adult pair and a first-winter ; Mute Swan - 2 - first-winters still ; Moorhen - 4 - 2 pairs ; Coot - 4 - 2 pairs
  • Forge Dam: Mandarin - 6 - M&F ; 320 - 1 - Female
  • Green Moor: Fieldfare - 2 ; Fieldfare - 2
  • Kimberworth: Tawny Owl - 1 - Flew across Grange Lane at 19.15
  • Malin Bridge: Blackbird - 10+ - At least 10 in and around garden, 1 male with ring. ; Redwing - 6+ - At least 6 all day in and around garden.
  • Norfolk Park: House Sparrow - 25+ - visiting garden feeders ; Blue Tit - 2 - regular visitors ; Woodpigeon - 1 - Regular visitors
