Treeton Dyke: Green Woodpecker - 1 - calling

Walkley: Swift - 1+ - adult feeding young in nest on Walkley Crescent Road.

Castle Dyke playing fields: Hirundine - c.50 - Swallows & House Martins, hunting over the fields, and also perched on Rugby goal post and pavilion roof.

Coombs Dale: 319 - 1

Middleton Moor: Yellow-legged Gull - 6 - 5x ad and 1x 3cy ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c800 - roost building in evening, birds still dropping in 21:15 ; Swallow - 1000+ - large congregation towards dusk, impossible to estimate true number. Roosting in Phragmites and Typhus. ; Lapwing - 2

Orgreave Lakes: Common Scoter - 1 - male on small lake ; Green Sandpiper - 1 - flew over small lake calling before dropping down to W. ; Oystercatcher - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 7 - Female with 6 newly hatched ducklings. ; Shoveler - 2 ; Common Scoter - 1 - Drake ; Common Tern - 1 ; Green Sandpiper - 1 ; Greenshank - 1 - Calling at 08:15 (not seen)

Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Sparrowhawk - 1 - E @ 1655hrs

Silver Wood: Green Woodpecker - 1 - in scrub just beyond NW corner of woods

Walkley garden: Swift - 20 - c.20 circling over, one entered local nest site at 21.20 as previous evening

Aldwarke: Chiffchaff - 3 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Grey Heron - 2 - left NE ; Linnet - 4 ; House Martin - 5 - feeding over ; Goldfinch - c30 - post-breeding flock ; Herring Gull - 1 - adult, SW ; Willow Warbler - 1 ; Swift - 2 - over ; Cormorant - 1 - on pylon ; Kestrel - 4 - ad male + 3 independent juvs in area

Aldwarke; Liberty Steel: Little Egret - 1 - NE, presumably to Thrybergh Tip @ 0639hrs ; Peregrine - 1 - adult on chimney from 0815hrs ; Raven - 1 - over from N, settled on floodlights in stockyard, 0800-0810hrs, then 'lost'.

Canklow: Lesser Whitethroat - 1

Carr Vale: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - adult flew towards Poolsbrook at midday

Ecclesall: Swift - 21 - circling at dusk - presumed local breeders
