  • Malin Bridge: House Sparrow - 15+ - coming down to seed feeders everyday for last month
  • Millhouses: Swift - 5 - 1 flying south;1 +3 moving west
  • Netherthorpe, Staveley: Osprey - 1 - reported flying south at 17:30
  • Orgreave Lakes: Mediterranean Gull - 1 - 2 cy in roost ; Little Egret - 4 ; Sand Martin - c5 ; Swift - 25+ ; Pochard - 7 ; Great Crested Grebe - 2+ - Including pair displaying ; Common Sandpiper - 2 ; Grey Partridge - 1 - Singing ; Cormorant - 9 ; Yellow Wagtail - 1
  • Rotherham Centre: Sand Martin - 4 - still lingering
  • Rotherham Centre; Forge Island: Chiffchaff - 1 - calling from S end @ 0755hrs
  • Sheffield Centre: Common Sandpiper - 1 - over calling at 22.22
  • Wharncliffe Heath NR: Wheatear - 1 - Juvenile on Wharncliffe Crags ; Spotted Flycatcher - 5 - 2 adults and 3 juveniles below Wharncliffe Crags ; Willow Warbler - 4 ; Raven - 1 - Flew high over reserve ; Sparrowhawk - 2+ - Calling ; Common Buzzard - 1

  • Blackburn Meadows NR: Raven - 2 - Flew west at 10.10.
  • Bray Plantation: Stock Dove - 1 - singing ; Woodpigeon - 4+ - singing ; Wren - 1+ - singing and calls ; Robin - 1 - singing ; Long-tailed Tit - 10+ ; Great Tit - 1+ ; Nuthatch - 1 - calling
  • Brushfield: Redstart - 1 - male
  • Dukes Road: Red Kite - 1 - Single bird in from NW turning above Hurkling Stones then dropping in Ewden Beck area.
  • Firsby Res: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 20+ - Flock on recently ploughed field plus other birds low over site.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Common Sandpiper - 4
  • Rivelin: Raven - 4 - 4 birds drifting over Bole Hill park.
  • Scholes Coppice: Stock Dove - 1 - singing
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Ringed Plover - 1 ; Green Woodpecker - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 2 ; Red-legged Partridge - 30+ - in oilseed rape stubble to west

  • Walkley Bank: Swift - 3+ - Three seen entering two former nest cavities on Bell Hagg Road at dusk; others heard calling nearby.
  • Wharncliffe Chase (south): Whinchat - 1 - Juvenile ; Stonechat - 4 - Family party (two juveniles)

Saturday 17th August 2019

  • 12 Rex Ave: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1m - first for a while ; Swift - 1 - moving south
  • Brecks, Rotherham: Raven - 1 - flew SW over Herringthorpe Wood, calling, at 13.45.
  • Brushfield: Kestrel - 1
  • Burbage Brook: Spotted Flycatcher - 1 - alarm calling from SW conifer stand
  • Crookes: Swift - 2 - over for the second time in three days
  • Derbyshire Peak: Goshawk - 1 - juvenile with Red-legged Partridge kill.
  • Ecclesall: Swift - 4 - Still present
  • High Dale: Raven - 3
