  • Chatsworth Park: Peregrine - 1 - 1 male flying E over flood waters ; Mallard - 115 - On flooded cricket pitch
  • Curbar Gap: SNOW BUNTING - 1 - Feeding on path from car park to White Edge
  • Greystones: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Female on fat in observer's garden
  • High Green: 319 - 2 - Pair mobbed by crows. ; Goldfinch - c20 ; 327 - 2
  • Longshaw: Goldcrest - 1 ; Jay - 2
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Redwing - 4 - W ; Goldfinch - 6
  • Redmires conduit: Meadow Pipit - 6 - Feeding along conduit. Also one Kestrel

  • RVCP: Red-breasted Merganser - 1 - redhead on jet ski lake with 6 Goosander ; Lapwing - 60 - Main Lake ; Goosander - 12 - throughout the park

Thursday 7th November 2019

  • Brownhills Lane: Black-headed Gull - c200 - In roadside fields. Also 12 Fieldfare
  • Crookes Valley Park: Grey Heron - 1 - adult by lake this morning in pouring rain (little disturbance)
  • Frecheville: Goosander - 3 - On Frecheville pond.
  • Millhouses garden: Blackbird - 1 - Young male singing as it has done every morning for the last ten days. ; Blackcap - 1 - Female ; Goldcrest - 1
  • Redmires Middle Res: Cormorant - one
  • Shepherd Wheel: Grey Heron - 1 ; Kingfisher - 1

Wednesday 6th November 2019

  • Baslow: Whooper Swan - 5 - S-E at 8.50
  • Crookes Valley Park: Herring Gull - 4 - adult pair resident around this area (regularly on top of Hicks Building on Univ campus) present again this morning with a juv that was still giving begging calls.
  • Crookesmoor: Ring-necked Parakeet - 1 - Howard Road - In flight towards Crookes, calling with potentially a second calling in response
  • Hudson*s Rough: Pheasant - 1 ; Woodpigeon - 1+ ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calls ; Wren - 1+ - at least 1 singing ; Robin - 1+ ; Blackbird - 10+ ; Goldcrest - 1+ ; Blue Tit - 1+ ; Great Tit - 1+ ; Chaffinch - 1 ; Goldfinch - 1+ ; Bullfinch - 1 - male

  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; adjacent interchange: Grey Wagtail - 2 - one joined by second over from direction of canal, with much excited calling, 0800hrs ; Goosander - 3 - 1m; 2 redheads @ 0800hrs

  • Redmires Res: Black-headed Gull - 90 - c. roosted on Top Res
  • Rivelin Valley: Whooper Swan - 10 - Flying south
  • Rother Valley CP: Little Egret - 1 - In drain at Killamarsh entrance, flew off around Meadowgate Lake.
  • Rotherham Centre; Main Street: Goosander - 5 - 2m & 2 redheads SW @ 1420hrs; 1 SW @ 1518hrs
  • Shirebrook Valley: Goosander - 1 - f. on Carr Forge pond ; Green Woodpecker - 1 - At Birley East rocks. ; Goosander - 1 - Redhead on Carr Forge Dam
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Rook - c.60 - in stubble to west
  • Walkley garden: Blue Tit - 3 ; Wren - 1
  • Wingfield School: Black-headed Gull - 10 ; Woodpigeon - 20+ ; Jackdaw - 5+ ; Rook - 20+

  • Rother Valley CP: Little Egret - 1 - On Meadowgate Lake
  • Sheffield University: Peregrine - 1 - circling low over Brookhill roundabout at 4 p.m., scattering Feral Pigeons from flats nearby

  • Endcliffe Park: Dipper - 1 - Perched on stepping stones near cafe at 7:10.
  • Hagg Lane Allotments: Long-tailed Tit - 12 ; House Sparrow - 2 ; Coal Tit - 10 ; Blue Tit - 10 ; Great Tit - 3 ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Jay - 1 ; Chaffinch - 1
  • Ibbotson*s Dam: Long-tailed Tit - 9 ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; adjacent Forge Island: Long-tailed Tit - 12+ - noisy feeding flock in riverside willows ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Cormorant - 1 - imm, fishing in swollen river
  • Sothall: Fieldfare - 1 - nocmig recorded overnight at 0122hr - the only one recorded this autumn so far.
  • Thrybergh CP: Goldeneye - 1 - f ; Water Rail - 1 ; Goldcrest - 2 ; Tree Sparrow - 3 - in noisy mixed flock of finches ; Brambling - 2 - 1nice looking m
