  • Silverwood Lagoon: Pochard - 1 ; Tufted Duck - 6 ; Mute Swan - 1pr ; Coot - 24 ; Moorhen - 2 ; Cormorant - 1 ; Common Gull - 1 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - c.80 ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Jay - 3 ; Jackdaw - 3 - west ; Pied Wagtail - 3 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing ; Lesser Redpoll - 1 ; Fieldfare - 5 - unusually scarce here so far this autumn ; Goldfinch - 30 ; Pheasant - 20+ ; Bullfinch - 2 ; Reed Bunting - 8 ; Long-tailed Tit - c.25 - three flocks

Monday 18th November 2019

  • Agden Res: Mandarin - 60+ - At least 60 male/female in fairly equal numbers on opposite side of res from Smallfield. Quite nervous lifting off water and calling /circling before returning. ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 20-30 - over ; Mallard - 10-Dec ; Tufted Duck - 2 ; Woodpigeon - 14 ; Coal Tit - 10+ - on feeders ; Great Tit - 4 ; Blue Tit - 7 - with coal tits ; Pheasant - 2 ; Rook - 18 - in field with sheep
  • Aldwarke: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Female visiting feeder throughout day Liberty Speciality Steels.
  • Bingham Park: 319 - 3 - circling quite often during the afternoon
  • Burngreave: Waxwing - 1 - perched up in treetop off Lopham St 14:10. Lots of berry laden Rowans in the area. S3 9JR.
  • Crowhole: Nuthatch - 1 ; Redwing - 4+ ; Pheasant - 2 ; Jay - 3 ; Mandarin - 4 ; Goldfinch - 4 ; Long-tailed Tit - 2 ; Pied Wagtail - 1
  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 1 ; Moorhen - 1 ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Jackdaw - 6 - Over together. ; Skylark - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 2 ; Bullfinch - 2 - Males near cottage. ; Tawny Owl - 1 - In willows.
  • Graves Park: Ring-necked Parakeet - 11 - Feeding on yew berries on top pond bankside. Most I've seen in this location. ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 6 - Flew over boating lake
  • Green Moor: House Sparrow - 25+ - Biggest group for a while
  • Hillsborough Park pond: Goosander - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - 1
  • Ibbotson*s Dam: Kingfisher - 2
  • Keppels Field: 319 - 2
  • Kimberworth Park: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Low over gardens adj Chislett.
  • Lady*s Bridge Weir: Goosander - 1 - Fishing in isolation above weir ; Kingfisher - 1 - Perched on a branch over river, then flew further upstream
  • Middleton Moor: Starling - 1000+ - Hundreds of flocks, possibly 1000s of Starlings flying north to Cavendish Mill area over Middleton Moor, Stoney Middleton, from 16:00. Worth a trip to Cavendish Mill to see the potential murmuration.
  • R Don, Effingham St: 321 - 1 - Perched on plastic strewn tree root exposed in the floods. ; Common Buzzard - 1
  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; adjacent interchange: Grey Wagtail - 01-Feb ; Cormorant - 1 - imm, feeding; left downriver
  • R Don, Stevenson Rd: Cormorant - 3 - perched on lights and gantry.
  • Wharncliffe Wood: Raven - 2

Sunday 17th November 2019

  • Aldwarke: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Female on feeder at Liberty Steels 14.00 ; Greenfinch - 2 ; Peregrine - 1 - Flew North over Liberty Steels 15.10
  • Blackburn Meadows NR: Woodcock - 1 ; Pink-footed Goose - 180+ - Flying north at 10.15.
  • Firsby Res: 319 - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 8+ ; Carrion Crow - 3 ; Pheasant - 2
  • Langsett Res: Black-headed Gull - 2000+ - roosting ; Common Gull - 35
  • Millhouses: Chaffinch - 5+ - in garden ; Dunnock - 1 ; Blue Tit - 4+ ; Blackbird - 10
