  • Shirebrook Valley: Green Woodpecker - 1 - Near Birley East rocks.
  • Stanage Edge: Merlin - 1 - ad male perched briefly on Cowper Stone, later hunting under S end of Stanage.
  • White Lee Moor: Crossbill - 5 - feeding in conifer plantation. ; Bullfinch - 9 - single group feeding on heather seeds. ; Fieldfare - 75 ; Siskin - c40 - in plantation.
  • Wortley: 319 - 1 - 7.40am Low hawk like attack across road into hedge on road to Wortley.

  • Bingham Park: Tawny Owl - 1 - Calling from Bingham Park woods at 5:30pm
  • Brightside: Goosander - 1 - male over E
  • Frecheville: Goosander - 1 - RH. Frecheville pond.
  • Linacre Res: Mandarin - 24 ; Tufted Duck - 9 ; Moorhen - 8 ; Coot - 3 ; Cormorant - 4 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 1
  • Meersbrook Park: Pied Wagtail - 1
  • Northern General Hospital, Herries Road: Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing before daylight
  • Norton Lees: Sparrowhawk - 1
  • Rawmarsh; Rockcliffe Road: Collared Dove - 2 - pair now regular; formerly scarce in this locality ; Goldfinch - 10
  • Redmires Top Res: Brambling - 1 ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; 319 - 1
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Raven - 1 - over fields to west being mobbed by local crows at 09.15
  • Wyming Brook: Treecreeper - 2 ; Nuthatch - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1

Wednesday 27th November 2019

  • Attercliffe: Herring Gull - c150 - Warren St ; Great Black-backed Gull - c60 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 2+ - one adult and at least one 1w still around
  • Green Moor: Pheasant - 80+ - Game release in local fields ; Tree Sparrow - 6+
  • Scholes Coppice: 319 - 1 - low over N end of wood calling
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Jack Snipe - 1 - went up from saturated ground below NW corner of lagoon at 09.15
  • Upper Common, Scholes: Fieldfare - 20+ - feeding in field ; Bullfinch - 1 - female in small tree above ditch

Tuesday 26th November 2019

  • Attercliffe: Pink-footed Goose - 76 - Came in from N over Grimesthorpe, then swung SW and over towards Sheffield centre at 13:25
  • Bingham Park: Dipper - 1 ; Jay - 1 - Bathing in the stream
  • Centenary Riverside: Kingfisher - 1 - Flew up river under bridge 10.30 ; Long-tailed Tit - 18-20 - Feeding group. ; Robin - 1 - Singing ; Wren - 1 ; Cormorant - 1 ; Mallard - 6
  • Ecclesfield park: Black-headed Gull - 130+ - Feeding on cricket pitch in heavy downpour.
  • Endcliffe Park: Kingfisher - 1 - Male on lower pond ; Black-headed Gull - 150+
  • Middleton Moor: 320 - 23
  • Norton Lees garden: Blackbird - c7 - In trees/shrubs at back of garden
  • R Don, Effingham St: Black-headed Gull - c120 - inc yellow colour ringed bird ringed as a chick at Fishers Green, Essex June 2019 and also seen recently in Endcliffe Park.
  • Rother Valley Golf Course: Brambling - 8 ; Fieldfare - c50 ; Redwing - c30 ; Greylag Goose - c50 - Grazing on 17th fairway
  • Rotherham Centre; Main Street: Peregrine - 1 - low to W/SW, past office window, @ 0930hrs

  • Ecclesall: Tawny Owl - 1 - calling from Ecclesall graveyard at 6:40
  • Forge Dam: Dipper - 2 - feeding together
  • Holbrook Marsh: Willow Tit - 1 - calling in tit flock
  • Hurlfield Garden: Blackcap - 1 - male feeding on berries 09:20-09:45 ; Nuthatch - 2 - regular visitors to feeders ; Goldfinch - 24 - on feeders. ; Goldcrest - 1 - with a mobile mixed tit flock thru garden.
  • Meersbrook Park: Grey Wagtail - 1
  • R Don, Rotherham Centre; Grafton Bridge: Cormorant - 3+ - usual commuting over town throughout day; 3 NE together @ 0750hrs
