Richmond: Pink-footed Goose - 100+ - Large skein heading east at 17:00

Totley Moor: Pink-footed Goose - c 250 - Two skeins heading east 09:20-09:55

Wortley: Pink-footed Goose - c50+ - 1+ heard over at 10:10, c50 NE at 14:10 ; Peregrine - 1 ; 319 - 5 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Skylark - 1 ; House Martin - 1

Barley Hall: Jay - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 2 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - call

Bowden Housteads Wood: Barn Owl - 1 - calling on field to east of wood at 03:40. Coincides with the first year the field has not been cut for many years.

Castleton: Raven - 1+ - Over Winnats

Ecclesfield Dam: Osprey - 1 - Took Bream and flew into wood,emerged a few minutes later,with fish in talons,flew off east pursued by two Buzzards.

Midhope Res: Wheatear - 1 ; Woodcock - 1 - Seen in flight 6am ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c600 - Half left roost pre-dawn with rest gone by 715. ; Black-headed Gull - c1700 ; 319 - 01-Feb ; Little Grebe - 5 ; Greylag Goose - 14 NE - Surprisingly low numbers ; Pied Wagtail - 14 ; Siskin - c15 ; Meadow Pipit - 5+ - incl 2 south ; Mistle Thrush - 12 ; Stock Dove - 1 - East ; House Martin - 1 ; Chiffchaff - 3 ; Barn Owl - 1 - Seen 6.10 ; Common Gull - 2 - Within gull roost ; Moorhen - 2 ; Tufted Duck - 16 - Increase in numbers ; 320 - 45 ; Kestrel - 2 ; Jay - 5+ ; Linnet - c150 ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Sparrowhawk - 1 ; Swallow - 3 ; Skylark - 1 - Heard only

R Don, Rotherham Centre: Grey Wagtail - 2 - adjacent interchange ; Mallard - 4 - 2m; 2f ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 7 - on weir adjacent Forge Island ; Herring Gull - 1 - on weir ; Grey Heron - 1 - adult ; Kingfisher - 2 ; Mallard - 9 - 5m; 4f ; Cormorant - 1 - feeding adjacent Forge Island, then left downriver ; Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Canada Goose - 2 - each with a damaged wing ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - f/juv, seen twice

Rawmarsh Cemetery: Tawny Owl - 2 - males, call & response, 0500-0520hrs

Rockingham Wood: 319 - 1 - over N end of wood, 11:55

Rotherham Centre: Lesser Black-backed Gull - 16 - loafing on rooftop; Glasshouse Street ; Great Black-backed Gull - 4 - on rooftop ; Black-headed Gull - c40 - on rooftop

Silverwood Lagoon: Gadwall - 8 - departed NW early morning ; Shoveler - 3 ; Mute Swan - 5 - female and now only 4 juvs. Feathers and blood near northern shoreline, so presumably killed by a fox or dog. Dead male had a broken neck but was otherwise unmarked - strongly suspect human activity ; Chiffchaff - 2 - singing ; Common Buzzard - 5 - in the air together over western paddocks ; Kestrel - 1 ; Reed Bunting - 4 ; Jay - 5 ; Skylark - 6 - in stubble to west
