  • Hangingwater garden: Collared Dove - 2 ; Woodpigeon - 1 ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Redwing - 4 - plus 8 in next garden ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - over
  • Hollow Meadows: Barn Owl - 1 - Hunting below Rod Side
  • Hurlfield: Tawny Owl - 2 - Causing a stir amongst the early rising Magpies and Blackbirds at 7am
  • Hutcliffe Wood: Mandarin - 8 - On a small stretch of flood water by the railway. ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - drumming ; Treecreeper - 1 ; Nuthatch - 4 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing ; Song Thrush - 1 - singing
  • Kimberworth: Goldcrest - 1 - Feeding for about 5 minutes on ivy berries. An occasional winter visitor to the garden.
  • Manor Fields Park: Mallard - 6 - 3 pairs with copulation occurring. ; Moorhen - 3+ ; Reed Bunting - 1 - female again in reedbed ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Linnet - 13 ; Greenfinch - 6+ ; Goldfinch - 10+ ; Chaffinch - 4+ ; House Sparrow - 6+ ; Dunnock - 2+ ; Wren - 3+ - min 3 birds singing ; Coal Tit - 1 ; Blue Tit - 4+ ; Great Tit - 4+ ; Robin - 4+ - 4+ birds singing ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - Single bird singing ; Redwing - 10+ - feeding on site ; Fieldfare - 1 - single with RWs ; Song Thrush - 3 ; Blackbird - 8 ; Magpie - 11+ ; Woodpigeon - 26+ - 6 on 20+ over ; Carrion Crow - 4 ; Goosander - 2 - a pair flew low west over site ; Kestrel - 1 - a male hunting site from trees flanked by mix finch flock.
  • Middle Common: Linnet - 80+ ; Chaffinch - 20+
  • Millhouses garden: Red Kite - 1 - From bedroom window, over junction Springfield Rd & Button Hill. First I've seen in this area.
  • Millhouses Lane garden: Feral Pigeon - 02-Mar - regular visitors during the month, feeding under the bird feeders ; Stock Dove - 01-Feb - including one which takes sunflower hearts from the feeder with much flapping of the wings ; Woodpigeon - 02-Mar - regular visitors, most days taking the spillage from the feeders ; Collared Dove - 01-Feb - heard calling in the front garden ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 01-Feb - the female being a regular daily visitor, the male missing days at a time ; Magpie - 2 - daily without fail ; Coal Tit - 1 - visiting irregularly ; Blue Tit - 01-Mar - feeding on suet balls and sunflower hearts, one occasionally visiting the nearby nest box ; Great Tit - 01-Feb - irregular visitors ; Long-tailed Tit - 06-Jul - feeding en masse on the suet balls, tailing off to one or two at the month end ; Nuthatch - 1 - daily visitor ; Blackbird - 03-May - two or three males, two females visiting daily ; Robin - 2 ; Bullfinch - 04-Jun - equal numbers of males and females, feeding several times a day ; Greenfinch - 01-May - m and f, irregularly visiting the feeders ; Goldfinch - -9 - visiting the feeders every day, the umbers peaking at 9 on one occasion ; Dunnock - 1 - the solitary bird visiting occasionally
  • Morley Pond: Mandarin - 1 - Female among Mallards in small channel @ W end. ; Mallard - 40+ ; Cormorant - 1 - E low over wooded S side. ; Grey Heron - 1 - in adj field. ; Moorhen - 1 ; Goldfinch - 1+ ; Siskin - 12+ - Feeding on Alder.
  • Orgreave Lakes: Goosander - 40 - Into roost lots of displaying going on. ; Great Black-backed Gull - 34 - Preroost ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 11 ; Herring Gull - 276 - At 17.00.Perhaps 3 times that number in and out. ; CASPIAN GULL - 4 - 2x 1st winters.1x2nd winter and 1 adult. ; CASPIAN GULL - 4 - another photo of one of the first winters ; Pink-footed Goose - 110 - NW at 08:45 ; Lapwing - 88
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 73 - inc 17 2cy ; Stock Dove - 2 ; Mallard - 7 ; Herring Gull - c60 - resting & bathing before returning to nearby recycling centre ; Great Black-backed Gull - 5 ; Grey Heron - 2 - over ; Black-headed Gull - c40 ; Lesser Redpoll - c30 - in birches along adjacent railway
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Mute Swan - 1 - SW @ 1105hrs ; Song Thrush - 1
  • Peat Pits: Golden Plover - 200+
  • R Don, Rotherham; Grafton Bridge: Cormorant - 3 - 2 NE @ 0750hrs; 1 NE @ 0900hrs ; Goosander - 1 - drake ; Grey Wagtail - 1 ; Mallard - 7 ; Song Thrush - 1
  • Redmires Res: Greylag Goose - 33 - in fields on Soughley Lane ; Canada Goose - 21 - in fields on Soughley Lane ; Cormorant - 1 - ad flew W ; Stonechat - 1 - female by Middle Res ; Reed Bunting - 1 - calling by Bottom Res ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling by Bottom Res ; Greenfinch - 6 - in tress by Top Res ; Herring Gull - 1 - on Middle Res ; Mallard - 8
