  • Upper Common, Scholes: Corvid - 60+ - mainly Rook with jackdaws and Carrion Crow ; Skylark - 1 ; Magpie - 13 - group feeding near scrub ; Linnet - 4
  • Woodseats: Pink-footed Goose - c150 - one skein heading east at 09:18

Sunday 24th December 2023

  • Aldwarke SF: Great Black-backed Gull - 14 - parties of 4 & 10, all SW ; Reed Bunting - 2 ; Song Thrush - 1 - in full song
  • Broomhead Res: 320 - 2 - singles flew W through gull roost ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - 3100 - roosted in very windy conditions ; Common Gull - 42 - roosted with BHGs ; Herring Gull - 12 - roosted with BHGs ; Waxwing - 35 - c. flew W to roost at 1515hrs
  • Catcliffe Flash: Cormorant - 1 ; Gadwall - 15 ; Grey Heron - 3 ; Pochard - 3 ; Black-headed Gull - 20 ; 320 - 6 ; Shoveler - 4 ; Tufted Duck - 3
  • Cemetery Avenue: Waxwing - 15+ - Very flighty but it was windy
  • Graves Park: 322 - 1 - Alexandrine Parakeet - one amongst usual Ring-necks ; Common Buzzard - 1 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Goosander - 4 ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 10+

  • Silverwood Lagoon: Common Gull - 2 - Squabbling over bread.
  • Walkley Bank: Waxwing - 9 - in ash tree near Fern Road
  • Westwood CP: Waxwing - 30+ - Feeding on Hawthorn berries next to the dam. Opposite side to the dam car park @ 11:00
  • Woodlaithes: Mistle Thrush - 1 - Feeding on berries near Co-op.

  • Chapeltown: Waxwing - c80 - Ecclesfield Road opposite Cumberland Crescent, coming down to feed on roadside Rowan 14:45
  • Curbar Edge: Fieldfare - c28 ; Raven - 2
