  • Wharncliffe Chase (north): Green Woodpecker - 1 - Heard ; Yellowhammer - 1 ; Siskin - 1+ ; Linnet - 1+ ; Curlew - 4
  • Wharncliffe Side: Robin - 1 - adult observed food carrying in observers garden ; Brambling - 7+ - At least 4 males and 3 females in observers garden, one male ringed, one close to breeding plumage
  • White Lee Moor: Crossbill - 15+ - Plenty calling in plantation, 7 birds seen well, including two posing and singing males. ; Crossbill - 15+ - Another photo ; Bullfinch - 2 - pair ; Mistle Thrush - 4 - small noisy flock ; Redwing - c20 - Briefly in trees before flying off NW
  • Wingfield: Rook - 3+ - in and around 3 nests @ Plowmans Way behind Forty Martyrs.

  • Agden Res: White-fronted Goose - 1 - 1w still with Greylags in fields just SW of Agden dam wall from Windy Bank road. ; Greylag Goose - 83 ; Curlew - 53 - in field with Geylags, inc a colour ringed bird. ; Oystercatcher - 2 - in fields with Geese and Curlew ; Mandarin - 2 - A pair were the only birds on the reservoir ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - pair foraging on concrete run off
  • Blackburn Meadows NR: Lesser Redpoll - 1 - Feeding on dead seed heads near the pipe bridge between Holmes/Jordan lock
  • Brownhills Lane: Pink-footed Goose - 1 - In top field closest to Redmires lower Res with c35 Greylags
  • Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 6 - 6 in the air together at 1200 ; Sparrowhawk - 2 - pair displaying
  • Canyards: Stonechat - 2 - pair
  • Carr House Lane: 319 - 3 - Circling overhead & away to W ; Curlew - 1 - Heard in fields above Wildlife Trust site ; Jay - 2 ; Kestrel - 1
  • Centenary Riverside: Grey Wagtail - 2 - Pair feeding near bridge 13.20 ; Robin - 2 ; Wren - 2 - 1 singing ; Goldfinch - 1 ; Long-tailed Tit - 2
  • Cinder Hills: Sparrowhawk - 1 - mobbed by 10+ Linnets ; Mallard - 2 - 1 pair in stream ; Pheasant - 1+ ; Wren - 1+ - at least 1 singing ; Dunnock - 1+ ; Robin - 1+ - singing ; Blackbird - 1 - singing ; Brambling - 1 ; Carrion Crow - 1
  • Cowell Flat: Brambling - 2 - on feeders
  • Damflask Res: Oystercatcher - 2 - on grass near the ticket office
  • Endcliffe Crescent: Tawny Owl - 1 - flew into trees by Lawrencefield Apartments
  • Firsby Res: Pied Wagtail - 4 - 2 on sluice, 2 in Horse paddock feeding on insects disturbed by Horse. ; 319 - 3 - 2 going to roost at dusk, 1 in Oak tree. ; Jackdaw - c50 - Going to roost at dusk calling. ; Woodpigeon - c 500 - Gathering in treetops pre-roost before moving off en masse to roost site at dusk. ; Tawny Owl - 1 - Calling.
  • Fulwood garden: Brambling - 1 ; Siskin - 6 ; Bullfinch - 2 - Pair ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Curlew - 1 - Over heading N - only second in 20 years ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - N ; Meadow Pipit - 2 - N ; 319 - 2
  • Graves Park: Mandarin - 4 - 3m and 1f perched in trees by Bunting Nook.
  • Heeley: Sparrowhawk - 1 over
  • High Bradfield: Red Kite - 1 - present all afternoon, Kirkedge/Edgemount/Spout House Hill feeding in fields. ; Red Kite - 1 - another photo
  • Holdworth: Red Kite - 1 - came over carrying food item. ; Little Owl - 2 - pair around farm outbuildings.
  • Killamarsh: Redwing - c.35 - Flying high in sky NE at dusk
  • Kirk Edge: Red Kite - 1 - Circling low until harassed by 2 lapwing then gained height and drifted lazily north east ; Curlew - 3
  • Limb Valley: Mandarin - 1 ; Stock Dove - 6 - 1 visiting probable nest site ; Kestrel - 2 ; 319 - 1
  • Loxley Chase: Linnet - 2 - flying over Low Ash Common my first of the spring (absent here in winter)
  • Middle Common: Stock Dove - 4 - from stubble
  • Nether Edge: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1
  • Norton Lees garden: Siskin - 1m ; Robin - 2 - Presumably a pair
  • Orgreave Lakes: Little Ringed Plover - 1 - On island at 06:30. ; Lesser Redpoll - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 5 ; 320 - 3 ; Goosander - 2 ; Wigeon - 1 ; Skylark - 10+ ; Meadow Pipit - 6+ ; Reed Bunting - 2 ; Oystercatcher - 2 ; Redshank - 2 ; Snipe - 1 - On island ; 319 - 1 ; Lapwing - 10+ ; Coot - 20+ ; Black-headed Gull - 100+ ; Herring Gull - 20+ ; Mute Swan - 6 ; Starling - 30 ; Lesser Redpoll - 20+ - near rail bridge ; Chiffchaff - 1 - singing between bridges ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - On island
  • Peat Pits: Little Owl - 2 - pair calling from stone wall.
