• Agden Res: White-fronted Goose - 1 - on edge of dam wall, preening.
• Barlow Common: Skylark - 2 ; Nuthatch - 01-Feb ; Meadow Pipit - 2+ ; Pied Wagtail - 1
• Bradfield: Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Chiffchaff - 1 ; Goldcrest - 1 ; Greenfinch - 2+ ; Greylag Goose - 45+ ; Mandarin - 8 ; Siskin - 3
• Broomhead/Rushy Wood Area: Mallard - 2 ; 321 - 1 - in stream near feeders ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 ; Dunnock - 4 ; Nuthatch - 2 ; Great Tit - 3 ; Blue Tit - 4 ; Coal Tit - 08-Oct ; Chaffinch - 3 ; Robin - 2 ; Woodpigeon - 6 ; Blackbird - 5 ; Jackdaw - 9
• Canklow Woods: Raven - 2 - west at 1350
• Centenary Riverside: Grey Wagtail - 2 - perched on a plastic pipe in the river under the bridge ; Wren - 1 - Singing ; Goosander - 3 ; Kingfisher - 1 - Flew under the bridge traveling from town in the direction of Magna. ; Red Kite - 1 - at 14.20 heading south towards Canklow Woods.
• Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Mallard - 5+ - inc 2 drakes pursuing female - fighting ; Tufted Duck - 3 - male ; Mute Swan - 1 - Y316, feeding at W end. ; 319 - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 - male, hunting S side at W end.
• Dronfield: Sparrowhawk - 2 - Circling over Greendale area; 1 bird also seen 17.30 flying across gardens.
• Midhope Res: Peregrine - Pair ; Crossbill - c45 - Single group flew across res in SE direction. Assumed several family groups. ; Fieldfare - c300 - Single group just appeared and swirled around. ; Starling - c40 - In fields ; Meadow Pipit - c60 - Single group of c50 feeding in fields before heading low west towards moors. ; Oystercatcher - 4 ; Curlew - 8 ; Little Grebe - 4 - Trilling ; 320 - Pair ; 319 - 6 ; Goldcrest - 2 - 1 singing ; Goldfinch - 6 ; Greenfinch - 1 ; Grey Wagtail - Pair ; Siskin - 6 - 4 with Crossbills ; Common Gull - 4 - >N to Langsett Res roost ; Black-headed Gull - c300 - >N towards Langsett Res roost
• Morley Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 4 ; Mallard - 4+ ; Tufted Duck - 10 ; Coot - 5 - 2 fighting ; Black-headed Gull - c100 - following tractor @ Peacock Lodge farm
• Norfolk Heritage Park: 319 - 1 - Soaring low over trees and Cholera Monument area. ; Woodcock - 1 - Peregrine prey? ; Jay - 3
• Norfolk Park: Sparrowhawk - 2 - Over Sheffield College, 2 heard calling overhead and being mobbed by 2, sometimes 4 Carrion Crows. May be the same two that have been seen in Norfolk Heritage Park.
• Orgreave Lakes: Shelduck - 2 - flew S at 07.50. ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 ; Sand Martin - 4 - North ; Lesser Redpoll - 80 - Between bridges ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - On tip ; Sand Martin - 4 - North
• Peat Pits: Golden Plover - c330
• R Don, Kelham: Coot - 1 ; Goosander - 1 - Redhead fishing
• R Sheaf Lowfield: Mallard - 2 - males, where river passes under Duchess Rd ; Moorhen - 1 - Where R. Sheaf passes under Duchess Rd.
• Redmires Res: Redshank - 2 - on Bottom Res - flushed by dog walker but resettled on Middle Res ; Little Ringed Plover - 1 - on Middle Res ; Herring Gull - 1 - 2 CY ; Chiffchaff - 1 - fresh in and calling by Top Res - my earliest arrival here ; Meadow Pipit - 25 - N in one hour ; Stonechat - 1 - male by Middle Res ; Grey Wagtail - 2 - flew W ; Redwing - 6 - flew NW ; Siskin - 4 - flew W
• Redmires Top Res: Crossbill - 03-Apr - High in roadside conifers
• Rockingham Wood: Chiffchaff - 1 - singing near f/p off Town Lane
• Sheffield University: Peregrine - 2 - 3rd egg laid this afternoon
• Shepherd*s Plantation: Nuthatch - 2 - 1 pair, on tree with nest hole used last year, one calling.
• Sothall: Little Ringed Plover - 1 - nocmig sound recorded 2223hr ; Golden Plover - 1+ - nocmig sound recorded 2241hr
• Stanage Edge: Ring Ouzel - 2 - Singing Male ; Raven - 1 ; Meadow Pipit - 15+ ; Reed Bunting - 2 - Singing males ; Curlew - 3 ; Snipe - 1 - chipping
• Wadsley Common garden: Brambling - 1 - Male.
• Walkley garden: Tawny Owl - 1 - hooting from lime tree, 03:30-03:45
• Wharncliffe Chase (north): Meadow Pipit - 210 - flew north 07:30-08:20 ; Fieldfare - c200 - Increased numbers, several roaming groups.
