  • Redmires Res: Rock Pipit - 1 - on Bottom Res dam wall - a quiet bird, but eventually called twice as it flew along the res
  • RVCP: Goldeneye - 1 - first of the autumn
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Jack Snipe - 1 - went up near overflow pool below lagoon
  • Thrybergh CP: Mute Swan - 20 ; Tufted Duck - 22 ; Wigeon - 12 ; 320 - 1 ; Gadwall - 2 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Lapwing - 70+ ; Pied Wagtail - 16 ; Grey Wagtail - 3 ; Goldfinch - 80+ ; Chaffinch - 30+ - Influx this morning ; Brambling - 1+ - feeding on path below dam with Goldfinch ; Siskin - 6 ; Meadow Pipit - 10 ; Goldcrest - 3 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 2 ; Blackbird - 30+ ; Redwing - 60 ; Fieldfare - 20 ; Red-legged Partridge - 22 ; 319 - 1 ; Black-headed Gull - C200

  • Big Moor: Fieldfare - 7 ; Red Grouse - 1 ; Kestrel - 1 ; Skylark - 01-Feb ; Raven - 1 ; 324 - 1 - 24 Red Deer
  • Blacka Moor: Pink-footed Goose - c.60 - Heading n.west.
  • Canklow Woods: Fieldfare - 56 - 56 west at 1050 ; Redwing - 19 - 19 west at 1050
  • Dog Kennel Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Grey Heron - 1 ; Moorhen - 7 ; Coot - 4 ; Black-headed Gull - 70+ ; Kingfisher - 1
  • Ecclesall: Chiffchaff - 1 - in garden on Ansell Road
  • Graves Park: Jay - 1
  • Green Moor: Little Owl - 1 ; Tree Sparrow - 2 - recommenced feeding ; Kestrel - 2 - Pair around nest box displaying and calling
  • Hagg Lane Allotments: Fieldfare - 9 - Flying NW at 11:30 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Calling from tree ; Bullfinch - 1
  • Kimberworth Park: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling from top of birch at Roughwood School
  • Malin Bridge: Raven - 1+ - One flying fairly low over Norris road going west . Calling with the korpp sound .Possibly another one around but did not see.
  • Middleton Moor: Dunlin - 1 ; Shoveler - 11 ; 320 - 60 ; Tufted Duck - 10 ; 320 - 62 ; Shoveler - 11 - good count here ; Lapwing - 8 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 3260 - c. massive roost on No. 4 lagoon ; Yellow-legged Gull - 7 - 5 ads + 2 x 2CY ; Herring Gull - 1 - ad winter roosted ; Black-headed Gull - 100 - c. roosted ; Common Gull - 4 - ad & 3 x 2CY ; Pied Wagtail - 65 - c. roosted ; Jackdaw - 250 - c. roosted ; Starling - 50 - c. roosted in reedbed ; Redwing - 2 - flew north at dusk
  • Morley Pond: Little Grebe - 1 ; Great Crested Grebe - 3 ; Mute Swan - 2 - 1 pair ; Lapwing - 20+ - 1 east calling at 11:35 then c20 west at 12:02 ; Redwing - 3 - north at 11:05
  • Orgreave Lakes: Whooper Swan - 1 ; Little Egret - 2 ; Cormorant - 8+ ; Pink-footed Goose - 20+
  • Orgreave Tip: Stonechat - 2
  • R Don, Effingham St: Goosander - 4 - imm males ; Peregrine - 1 - juv circling ; Common Buzzard - 3 - circling over ; Cormorant - 1 - imm
  • R Don, Newhall Road: Kingfisher - 1 - male
  • R Don, Stevenson Road: Dipper - 1
  • Ramsley Res: Lesser Redpoll - 6+ ; Raven - 1
  • Rawmarsh Cemetery: Tawny Owl - 1+ - female (probably also a male) calling around 2330hrs
  • RVCP: Whooper Swan - 1 - flew high to the south @ 08-20 ; Pink-footed Goose - 34 - single skein west@ 08-50
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Fieldfare - 3 ; Pink-footed Goose - 1+ - distant skein heard at 09.40. Probably over Wickersley/Listerdale
  • Strawberry Lea Plantation: Brambling - 01-Feb - Calls heard.
  • Thrybergh CP: Mute Swan - 20 ; Whooper Swan - 3 - 3 adults landed briefly departed NW late morning ; Pink-footed Goose - 21 - west ; Tufted Duck - 17 ; Lapwing - 73
