Stanage Edge near Crow Chin: Cuckoo - 1 - Calling from rocks then flew off north harried by 2 Meadow Pipits ; Ring Ouzel - 3 - Flew over, calling, and landed on Edge for 1-2 minutes before flying off ; Wheatear - 2

Wharncliffe Chase: Swallow - 3 - Back on territory at Hallfield Head Farm ; Chiffchaff - 2 ; Willow Warbler - 6 - All singing including one from small isolated tree in centre of Chase. ; 319 - 1 ; Skylark - 20+ ; Tree Pipit - 7 - Singing ; Reed Bunting - 3 - 2m,1f ; Red-legged Partridge - 4 - 2 pairs ; Curlew - 2 - Separate calling birds ; Lapwing - 6 - At least one chick seen, at least 2 pairs very territorial so possibly more chicks around. ; Stock Dove - 2 - Pair ; Yellow Wagtail - 1 ; Cuckoo - 1 - Brief song heard ; Blackcap - 2 - Singing ; Goldcrest - 2 - Singing ; Siskin - 1 ; Lesser Redpoll - 1 ; Linnet - 30+ - All around nesting site at southern area ; Stonechat - 5 - 3m,2f ; Kestrel - 1 ; Raven - 2 ; Wheatear - 3 - 2f ; Redstart - 2 - Singing in close proximity ; Yellowhammer - 1 - Singing

Bole Hill, Treeton: Grey Wagtail - 2 ; Whitethroat - 10+

Bolehill Flash: Sand Martin - 20+ ; Reed Warbler - 2+ ; Sedge Warbler - 1

Burbage Valley: Ring Ouzel - 1 - male on rocks ~300m down from the road at 20:10

Canklow Woods: Common Buzzard - 2

Catcliffe Flash: Great Crested Grebe - 2 ; Tufted Duck - 7

Cinder Bridge Field; The Tops: Whitethroat - 1 - singing ; Mallard - 1pr - NE ; Linnet - 1pr - feeding on track ; Yellowhammer - 1 - singing ; Chaffinch - 1 - singing ; Skylark - c10 - singing, all over cereals ; Lapwing - 3 - in cereal crops (probably 1-2 pairs breeding) ; Yellow Wagtail - 1 - singing from high in Ash. Flew into crop & returned to tree to sing. Now rare in breeding habitat in this part of Rotherham.

Firsby Res: Moorhen - 2 ; Coot - 4 - 2 pairs, 1 pair with nest. ; Mute Swan - 2 ; Little Grebe - 1 ; Mallard - 10+ - Female with ducklings. ; Pied Wagtail - 1 - On sluice. ; 319 - 1 - High over site. ; Grey Partridge - 6 - Flushed from farmland. ; Blackcap - 3+ - Singing. ; Whitethroat - 4 - Calling. ; Willow Warbler - 2 ; Reed Bunting - 1 - Male. ; Skylark - 3+ - Singing. ; Yellowhammer - 5 - 4 Males. 1 Female. ; Bullfinch - 1+ - Calling in cottage hedge. ; Goldfinch - 10+ - Inc 2 Females sitting and 3 nests just built. ; Linnet - 5+ ; Chaffinch - 1 - Singing Male. ; Song Thrush - 1 - In brambles. ; Blackbird - 2 - Sitting Females. ; Swallow - 3+ - Over. ; Treecreeper - 1 - In woodland near road. ; 324 - 1 - Grass Snake

Graves Park: Wood Warbler - 1 - Male initially found at ornamental pond was slowly heading towards main pond.

Green Moor: Garden Warbler - 1 - One singing bird, first of the year ; Kestrel - 2 - Visiting neighbours nest box
