  • Midhope Res: Greylag Goose - 25 ; Curlew - 1 ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 8
  • Morley Pond: Great Crested Grebe - 1 ; Mallard - 10+ ; Moorhen - 2 ; Black-headed Gull - 26 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - calling
  • Moscar Cross: Merlin - 1 - fem type ; Brambling - 1 - over ; Redwing - 174 - several flocks N (into wind) 7:30-09:30 ; Fieldfare - 90 - 3 flocks N ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - 16 - high SW
  • New Stubbin colliery & tip: Goldcrest - 3 ; Yellowhammer - 7 ; Linnet - 6 ; Jay - 2 ; Redwing - 5 ; Long-tailed Tit - 4 ; Skylark - 01-Feb - singing in sunshine ; Bullfinch - 1 ; Common Buzzard - 1 - soaring over, left E ; Hawfinch - 1 - in from high to E, calling @ 1029hrs, dropping into top of Hawthorn on colliery site. Lost in scrub but calling frequently before leaving low to W/NW @ 1036hrs. Not relocated.

  • Orgreave Lakes: Goldeneye - 1 - imm. on main lagoon. ; Merlin - 1 - 1 over Treeton at 08:50 (sex uncertain) then North over plains. ; Pochard - 62 - Flock on small lake steadily increasing daily.
  • Parkbank Wood: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1
  • Parkgate; *Banana* plantation: Redwing - 32 - all W/NW ; Kestrel - 1 - male hunting ; Lesser Redpoll - 8 - 5 N; 3 S/SE ; Siskin - present - small numbers passing over but heard only ; Herring Gull - 16 - SW ; Fieldfare - 11 - W ; Common Gull - 1 - adult, W ; Song Thrush - 3 - 2 N; 1 dropped in ; Bullfinch - 3 - 2 N; 1 S ; Goldfinch - 10 - S ; Mistle Thrush - 1 - singing ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - over, left E ; Meadow Pipit - 2 ; Greenfinch - 2 - W ; Great Black-backed Gull - 2 - SW ; Goldcrest - 1

  • Rawmarsh:Haugh Rd: Cormorant - 1 - E @ 09.40 ; Whooper Swan - 13 - SW over garden @ 08.16 ; Mallard - 24 - E ; Lapwing - 12 - N @ 09.25 ; Golden Plover - 1 - W @ 09.05 with 3 larger waders,possibly Ruff ; Canada Goose - 19 - S @ 06.30 ; Common Gull - 33 - SW in one flock @ 08.00 ; Herring Gull - 10 - S @07.15 ; Great Black-backed Gull - 3 - S ; Woodpigeon - 850 - S/SW in small parties ; Meadow Pipit - 3 - S ; Redwing - 25 - SW ; Starling - 27 - SW ; Jackdaw - 38 - SW ; Pink-footed Goose - c50 - W @ 16.25
  • Redmires Middle Res: Feral Pigeon - 8 - W; single party of 7 strongly W and 1 W with Woodies
  • Redmires Top Res: Greylag Goose - 20 - Flew in and after circling joined Canada Geese on south shore.
  • Rotherham: Woodpigeon - 300+ - good S/SW movement, high in parties of 100 & on a broad front
  • Silverwood Lagoon: Pochard - 4
  • Thornseat Delf: Stonechat - 2 - pair ; Brambling - 1 - in plantation ; Great Black-backed Gull - 1 - ad W
