  • Meersbrook Park: Wren - 1
  • Millhouses: House Sparrow - 35+ - In the observer's garden. Highest count for over 30 years. Excellent breeding season. Several broods raised from nests around the property. ; Kingfisher - 1 - Sheaf Valley Walk. First since March.

  • Alport Moor: Red Kite - 1 - Single bird watched working the moors at low level heading west.
  • Birley Edge: Swift - 3
  • Gleadless: Hobby - 1 - flew east over Gleadless Common 08:10
  • Green Moor: Little Owl - 5 - 2 adults and 3 owlets ; Swallow - 50+ - On wires ; Little Owl - 5
  • Hurlfield: Common Buzzard - 1 - flew low north at 10:30. ; Swift - 4 - over S/W. 10:32.
  • Manor Fields Park: Blackcap - 5 - 1 male. ; Whitethroat - 7 ; Willow Warbler - 4 ; Chiffchaff - 3 ; Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - then flew to cemetery 06:50. ; Song Thrush - 8 - about 8 birds mostly young birds 06:20 -- 07:20.
  • Orgreave: Willow Tit - 1 - along the river at sk 424879
  • Redmires conduit: Nightjar - 1 - Single bird sat on wall besides Hammond's Field at 13:00 until flushed by Mistle Thrush. Allowed approach to within 15 feet and appeared to be a juv. Flew into adjacent conifer wood.
  • Redmires Top Res: Crossbill - 4-6 + - 4+ at the side of car park, 2 + at the end of Redmires conduit

  • Upper Derwentdale: Swallow - 50 - Lots taking feed and passing through along with Swifts and House Martins and a few Sand Martins.

  • Hordron Edge: Kestrel - 3 - Female plus two juveniles learning to hunt ; Swallow - 10 ; House Martin - 4 ; 319 - 2 - 2 birds disputing territory ; Stonechat - 1 - Male ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Willow Warbler - 2 - singing males in plantation ; Coal Tit - 10 - large Family Part, feeding flock with obvious fledged young ; Goldcrest - 1
  • Morley Pond: Mute Swan - 5 - 2Adult,3juv ; Tufted Duck - 8 - Female with 7 ducklings
  • Orgreave Lakes: Black-tailed Godwit - 2 ; Little Ringed Plover - 2 ; Yellow-legged Gull - 1 - sadly, moribund
  • Padley Gorge: Spotted Flycatcher - 2 - 1 adult plus 1 (separate) downy fledged youngster mixing with mixed flock of Tits and Willow Warblers ; Willow Warbler - 5 - Fledged young, not calling or singing, with mixed flock of Blue & Coal Tits ; Green Woodpecker - 2 - yaffle calling simultaneously, later a probable 3rd bird. ; Swallow - 10
  • R Don, Effingham St: CASPIAN GULL - 1 - a juv briefly flew to Tesco roof, early p.m. ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - juvenile/1w on Norfolk Bridge and Effingham St weirs in evening
  • R Don, Norfolk Bridge: Yellow-legged Gull - 2 - adults ; Herring Gull - 6+ - including 2 fresh juveniles ; Lesser Black-backed Gull - c150 - including 5 juvs
