  • Fulwood garden: Jackdaw - 4 - below feeders, including one showing some characteristics of 'Nordic' Jackdaw (monedula) ; Jackdaw - 4 - another photo of apparent monedula ; Jackdaw - 4 - another photo
  • Green Moor: Pink-footed Goose - c180 - Skeins of c70 @ 11:20, and c110 @ 11:50 flew west ; Brambling - 6+ - In my garden ; Brambling - 6+ ; Brambling - 6+
  • High Storrs: Brambling - 15 - 15+ Feeding in garden tree tops with chaffinch and goldfinch.
  • Hurlfield: Tawny Owl - 3 - 3 calling in area 05:45-06:50.
  • Lodge Moor: Sparrowhawk - 1 - Male Persistently trying to catch finches at feede ; Brambling - 10 - With c10 Goldfinches, 4 Greenfinches, 2 Chaffinch and 1 Siskin at feeders in garden
  • Meersbrook Allotments: Goldfinch - c.50 - Largest flock seen on plot in 5 years.
  • Millhouses Sheaf Valley Walk: Goldfinch - 70+ - Pre-roost gathering
  • Norwood Allotments: Bullfinch - 5 ; Ring-necked Parakeet - 6 ; Brambling - 24 - one this morning and 24 briefly in treetops at 14:30 ; Whooper Swan - 11 - west at 13:53. The first from here this winter
  • Orgreave Lakes: Kingfisher - 2 - 2 sat by the edge of main lake first light ; Goosander - 25 - 14 males and 11 females on main lake at first light but most left shortly after. ; Golden Plover - 1 - on SE shore ; Whooper Swan - 13 - 7 on lakes at dawn which went off East with Mute swans at 08.15 + 6 north at 09.15 ; Shelduck - 1 ; Shelduck - 1 ; Grey Partridge - 2 ; Whooper Swan - 6 - Flew north
  • Parkgate Canal Basin: Mute Swan - 76 - inc 7 2cy ; Mallard - 12 ; Black-headed Gull - c45 ; Glaucous Gull - 1 - 1st winter/2cy dropped in at 1110hrs; rested & bathed before heading back towards Northfield @ 1118hrs

  • Peat Pits: Golden Plover - 263 - in cereal field .

  • Redmires Res: Pink-footed Goose - 60 - c60 flew west @ 12:20 ; Raven - 1 - over E late afternoon
  • Redmires Top Res: Lapwing - ~50
  • Rother Valley CP: Smew - 1 - redhead reported still on screen pond this morning
  • Rotherham; Northfield: Herring Gull - 50-70 - max at one time, loafing on rooftops; steady turnover of birds but little activity at recycling centre today ; Great Black-backed Gull - c15 - max at one time ; Black-headed Gull - c25 - inc EHV3 (white darvic) Dutch ringed ; Glaucous Gull - 1 - 1st winter/2cy on rooftop from 0920-1058hrs when it left towards canal basin (record shot) ; Glaucous Gull - 1 - 1st winter, Hope Street
  • Shirecliffe: Brambling - 4 - at garden feeders. ; Siskin - 1 - male taking nyjer seed from feeder. First for the garden.
  • Thrybergh CP: Whooper Swan - 38 - in then n ; Brambling - 5+ - At feeding station. ; Great Crested Grebe - 10 ; Little Grebe - 6 ; Mute Swan - 12 ; Greylag Goose - 150+ ; Whooper Swan - 38 - 7 on early left n 0900+31 in from e 0929 left n 0932 ; Water Rail - 2 ; Brambling - 8 ; Gadwall - 6 - 3pr ; Pochard - 7 ; Tufted Duck - 30+
  • Totley Garden: Brambling - 1 - 1 male at sunflower heart feeder.
  • Tyzack*s Dam: Mandarin - 18 ; CASPIAN GULL - 1 - this afternoon
  • Walkley: Pink-footed Goose - c.160 - quite low NW at 15.23

  • Crosspool: Waxwing - c25 - on Manchester Road just west of Sportsman pub at 14:45
  • Dronfield: Tawny Owl - 1 - Calling from trees in Cliffe Park
  • Firsby Res: Moorhen - 2 ; Coot - 1 ; Mallard - 10 - 6 M, 4 F. ; Sparrowhawk - 1 - Male ; Kestrel - 1 - F hovering over set aside field ; Redwing - 2+ ; Fieldfare - 1 ; Mistle Thrush - 1 ; Song Thrush - 1 ; Blackbird - 6 - Feeding on fallen apples. ; Bullfinch - 2
  • Fulwood: Pink-footed Goose - 100+ - at least one large flock over S-ish at 10:43, but not seen as in low cloud
  • Gibraltar Street: Waxwing - 8 - in top of trees opposite Yorkshire Decorators Shop at 11:00, A couple of calls heard and then flew off behind same row of shops.
  • Graves Park: Ring-necked Parakeet - 2
  • Greystones garden: Fieldfare - 10 ; Long-tailed Tit - 3
  • Kiveton: Blackbird - 20+ - garden full of around 20
