  • Catcliffe Flash: 320 - 5 ; Wigeon - 3 ; Kingfisher - 2 - flew across flash ; Great Crested Grebe - 2 - prospecting nest site ; Tufted Duck - 8 ; Pochard - 6
  • Crookes: Great Spotted Woodpecker - 1 - Near northern edge of cemetery.
  • Crosspool: Waxwing - 6 - On Manchester Rd near Coldwell Rd at 11:30
  • Dalton: Black-headed Gull - c50 - on sports ground ; Siskin - 1 - over ; Reed Bunting - 1 - singing ; Rook - 24 - on pylons, with birds carrying nest material to usual nest sites on pylon arms ; Mistle Thrush - 1
  • Ecclesall: Bullfinch - 2 - pair in Ansell Road garden - male later heard singing ; Brambling - 1 - in Ansell Road garden - some sub-song heard
  • Eckington: Water Rail - 1 - Heard in marshy, bulrushy area on R. Moss near church.

  • Kimberworth: Siskin - 2 - Male and female feeding in the garden and the willow tree. ; Goldcrest - 1 - Feeding In garden trees ; Greenfinch - 1 - On the sunflower hearts feeder with a small 'charm' of goldfinches.

  • Shirecliffe: Brambling - 1 - single male this morning ; Lesser Redpoll - 11 - taking nyjer seed from feeders ; Blackcap - 1 - male singing this morning from hawthorn but presumably overwintering bird seen previously.
